These fine silver gloves are one of the most difficult sculpting projects I’ve made. From molding in wax, latex and plaster in different layers to free hand sculpting and applying the fingerprints. finally, electroforming them in silver. The whole process meant a lot to me, and the time during my masters degree and all that the project became was important to my whole practice. Slightly sad that they have now been sold 🫠However, really pleased that they are going to someone in the medical field. They will be shown at @konsthantverkscentrum until December 3 and They are spectaculaaaaaarrrrrr.

‘Holding What Cannot Be Held: On Material Instability and Non-Ownership’ by Hyunji Cho @roselycho brings us into the fall and further into this year’s UNDERWORLD theme.⁠

At the interest of the multiple and variegated makers among us, this article studies the inherent tension between objects and the materials they are composed of. In Cho’s view, materials enter into a slow process of natural deterioration that is at odds with objects entangled in systems of ownership, value and exchange. Using the practice of Eva Hesse as a point of departure, Cho examines the work of contemporary artists whose material enquiries address this tension between permanence and ephemerality. In writing that is as delicate and considered as its objects – pale crystalline structures of sweat and tears – Cho thinks with the work of Alice Potts @alicenapotts and Judit Fritz @judit.fritz to reveal the constant corrosion beneath ‘the fiction of permanence’.⁠

The sub-theme SUBTERRANEAN LOGIC investigates knowledge that has been repressed by dominant structures. Spotlighting the intuitive, irrational, occult and mythological, we focus on how these types of meaning-making manifest in material and visual culture.⁠
