A chaotic lil nervous system debrief on how we can subconsciously become what we don’t want to be, fighting the same burnout boss battle in different outfits, and my next chapter of trying to live a little more sustainably for my heart, mind, and body LOL by @juicywisdomnuggets

This one was both terrifying and liberating to write and it was the perfect amount of discomfort to push me to press publish. I got my formal ADHD diagnosis this time last year and LET ME TELL YOU I tried to convince the psychologist to diagnose me on zoom while I was driving and my camera wasn’t working and he really said “Christina, this is an ASSESSMENT, how do you expect me to assess you without any visual cues”? I still cackle about how this went down.

Anyway, it’s been a wild heck of a year learning to work with my ADHD rather than AGAINST, and I’m proud to share 5 major things I’ve learned

1️⃣ Focus isn’t broken, it’s mis-directed - like a camera trying to focus on the wrong thing

2️⃣ Momentum creates motivation - like a warm up to a work out

3️⃣ Forgetfulness ≠ I don’t care - my brain is wired differently, and that doesn’t make me

4️⃣ Memory needs system, not shame - my brain deletes things like a desperado iPhone 12 mini fighting for their storage

5️⃣ Emotional intensity needs regulation, not suppression - It’s okay to feel it all. Learning when to pause, breathe, and ask for support is the toolkit.

Thank you for @adhd.christal for inspiring me to muster up the courage to share the inner workings of my neurospicy brain. I will always hyper obsess over your content and your llama app <3 by @juicywisdomnuggets

There are so many ‘ships’ in life - mentorship, friendship, partnerships, leadership - but the one we often talk about the least might be the most important: friendship.

This month’s wisdom nuggeteer is @emmanuelacho, who beautifully compares friendships to parts of a house.

🪟Window friends see your life from afar, a birthday text here or there, but not in the day to day

🚪Door friends are in and out, depending on the season. Some people just aren’t meant to weather every storm with you

🪜Floor friends are the ones who stay. Who catch your tears, your mess, your not, and keep you grounded

🌶️ And here’s my spicy addition: fridge friends - the people who have unlimited permission to open your fridge, and also, restock it. They nourish you and know you’ll do the same.

Which kind of friend are you? And who’s earned fridge privileges in your life? by @juicywisdomnuggets

Last December, for the first time in my adult life, my dad initiated getting me a birthday cake. I repeat: the man who’s allergic to spending money….bought a cake 🎂😭

But plot twist, before he could even show me he dropped it. Blamed the dog. Tried to reshape it with his fingers. It had a giant dent and some panicked cake surgery smudges – but it was perfect 😂

My dad’s never been a cake guy, hug guy, or “say I love you” guy. But after years of healing (shoutout to my therapist), I’ve learned to see his love in squished cakes, free alleyway furniture, and the occasional mumbled “love you too” before slamming the door.

This post is a tribute to the quiet ways our parents show love – through frugality, furniture finds, and a 20% off cake after 5PM at Anna’s Bakery.

If it ain’t obvious enough this month’s Juicy Wisdom Nuggeteer is my resourceful, chaos-filled dad. If you need a TV stand, 3 chairs, or a washing machine – he’s got you.

@a_m_mastroianni dropped the juiciest wisdom nugget of an article on substack and I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT 😫 it’s got me geeking out hard about the psychology of conversations. I’m not sure how I’m gonna unpack this in 1 blog post (because I am and always will be queen of short story longs) but hear me out—

I’ve always known for there to be two major players in conversations: the giver, and the taker (as he says, neither givers or takers have it 100% correct). Then BADABOOMBANG 💨Adam struts through the door and introduces a charming THIRD player: the conversational doorknob 😌

I adore a good article that sheds light on everyday concepts we don’t really think about- like the social techniques behind what makes a bumpin’ conversation.

I don’t say this often but please have full read on his article (linked on my link in bio on my last blog post marvelling about guess what HIS ARTICLE!!) a loooud applause for this month’s nuggeteer 😌🗣️

Also re: the pic of the rainbow I was in an Uber and screamed ‘THERES A RAINBOW’ by accident because I just freak out about rainbows 😍 and I asked if Major ( @majorsboparai the best uber driver EVER) if he could wait a few moments before take off so that I can take a pic of the rainbow . I think I did offered a ‘conversational knob’ in this moment, as it was a sporadic digression that actually led to him spending an extra 15 minutes stopping in alley ways and taking different roads all do that I can capture the perfect shot 😫 it was a lovely 40 min ride home and we are still in touch today- and it all began from a shared admiration for mother nature’s 🌈

In the pic with the aggressive sharpie writing on the @bakdcookies cookie bag; it was a ‘giver’ and ‘knob’ because I did put an invitational question to connect with @x.jessn about an opportunity and also did a taker’s ‘confession’ that I really really really wanted to work with them 😂 it actually worked and they got back to me!! 🫶🏻

Aaand in the last pic is just me flexing my newfound knowledge like a keen student who studied for their exam hard 💀 never thought this would be the next topic I obsess and geek out over 🤷🏻‍♀️

@healwithbritt our nuggeteer of the month comin’ in spicy 🌶️with one of my favourite reframes 🔁of the month:

‘healing is not becoming the best version of ourselves, it’s letting the worst version of yourself to be loved’

I’ve always known that there is dark and light within us. Britt’s words made me believe for the first time that every version of me deserves love, grace, and tenderness.

Unpacked Britt’s words on my next blog at my link in bio 🤧🌻🤍 by @juicywisdomnuggets

Footnote 32848: Imagine starting our childhood with the self belief of ‘I am enough’. Growing up in an environment and culture that didn’t reinforce those belief systems, it was super hard to imagine until I watched Inside out 2 by @pixar. This movie is hope for our future generation of change makers, children & youth.

This movie inspired an imperfect ramble on the differences between self love and self acceptance, my acne journey (it was hard to muster up the courage to write about this one) and a wholesome reminder of the power of ‘and’. I can be scared AND brave. I can be messy AND marvelous.

Thank you to wisdom nuggeteer @rainbowsalt & @pixar for being my light and inspiration. Life happens over and over again and your words ground me every damn time. by @juicywisdomnuggets

🤌🏻 to wisdom nuggeteer @_lisaolivera for this beautiful reframe 🔄, for reminding us that the light has been within us all along. It’s a flirty thought I’m starting to slowly believe: there is no ‘becoming’, there is only returning to who we’ve always been. Shtaaap it 😳

A ‘juicy wisdom nugget’ is defined as lil brain hacks that empower us to brave through life’s plot twists

The inspiration behind this blog is to have an open, safe space to express myself freely about the juiciest wisdom nuggets I’ve learned from some of the brightest minds I know ( you may be featured here hehe ) It is speaking my mind without overthinking every sentence. It’s a direct effort of unlearning perfectionism, and giving myself permission to be human. They say the antidote to perfectionism is

My first blog post at my link in bio spotlights Trisha from @artofbreathing_ who speaks on cycle breaking in families and how understanding can reduce resentment. Your words have carried me through a rough patch, and I’d like to pass your wisdom on here for anyone who is going through breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
