6.04.22 | riding the wave.

when i close my eyes and think about the parts of life i’m the most grateful for, chief among them is the abundance of new people i meet who become instant family.

while some may consider a life without commitment to place a lonely one, time has shown me that the possibility of connection is all around us — should we choose to see it.

what started as a spark on a dance floor has so often turned into a beautiful source of connection, branches to many types and permutations of love and connection.

the power of life to bring to us the people we need when we need them the most is something i will forever hold in awe. taken in Sardinia by @jujukid

2022 | over the past year i’ve come to understand that healing a broken heart isn’t about putting the heart back together as much as it is learning it’s new shape and form.

i’ve found in the tapestry of my heart an impermanent and ever shifting constellation of cracks — cracks which, together, have revealed themselves a window to greatest light and love i’ve ever known.

across the many countries, cities, homes and I’ve come to know, I’ve found in each a vantage from which to look within that’s radically changed how i see both what’s in me and what’s outside of me.

how the tapestry will take shape, and how the journey will unfold is excitingly unknown. what is for certain — it’s direction is onward. taken in Chez Georges by @jujukid

#36 wasn’t a home, it was our sanctuary. @sharbsy wasn’t a roommate but is, and forever will be, my partner. To leave this person and this place has been to learn loss anew and revel in gratitude. In the depths of this goodbye, I relish the joy that has been and that which is to come. If home is where there heart is - home will always be with you.

In each of the 21,600 breaths I take today is an act of gratitude. Gratitude borne of survival, not wisdom, not reflection. A uniquely American gratitude that can only stem from the knowledge that your breath is expendable — a temporary reprieve that can be removed at will with the hands, knees, and tools of hate.

To live such that your breath, your health, and cultural wealth are acts of resistance, not existence, carries a weight I’ll never be able to explain — simply because I’ve never been without it.
For my beautiful siblings in this
journey, remember to breathe. Breathe fully, breathe deeply, breathe loudly.
Breath is more than our humanity, it’s our divinity. It is our connection to the ancestral wisdom, expansive freedom, and healing joy that eludes the hate they give. It is an act of resistance to sustain us such that we may see a day where we too can breathe freely, peacefully, and justly. by @jujukid

I’ve spent a lot of time this weekend thinking about the serendipity of friendship and the endless light my friends have shone on my life. I’m so thankful to live with the immense privilege to jump oceans and cross borders to bask in the light, smiles and love of people like @jasszulkin and @lille_haerjedalingen.
Seeing these two twice in a year - once in their home and once in mine - after 4 years apart was a poignant reminder that the bonds of friendship transcend place and time. taken in Stockholm, Sweden by @jujukid

8.29.19 | where the wild thing was.

as the winds have begun to bring in a new season, i’ve been consistently reminded of the power of transition. in the midst of this transition, I’m called to reflect on the lessons I learned while basking in the light and warmth of summer’s bounty.
this summer brought with it an abundance of lessons, planting the seeds of personal transformation I may not fully witness for another revolution around the sun, or two. many of these seeds were planted by the teachers I had the privilege of learning from — Yogi Charu and Mantak Chia. these learnings have helped to further my understanding of self, the universe we inhabit, and the never ending well of magic and healing power we all possess. these lessons have inspired my personal practice but also awakened a yearning to share and amplify the lessons I’ve experienced as a teacher.
as the winds of fall take hold, I’ll harvest some of these seeds and make the personal transition from exclusively student to student and teacher. the realization and intention that I can bring tools and lessons of spiritual and personal growth to my friends, family and community have made me all the more inclined to jump up and make crazy faces like this ⬆️🤪 taken in Fire Island, New York by @jujukid

08.10.19 | it’s all in the family.

7 years ago I was gifted the opportunity to co-found @_ourethos .
As I’ve grown in and outside of my work, the power of attraction has become a clearer, more potent force in my life.
As I’ve become clearer and more resolute in my purpose and my commitment to this path — the more impactful are the guides that have presented themselves in the way of my team.
To cultivate a team whose dedication and commitment to changing the trajectory of education and economic outcomes surpasses even my own, has given me great belief in the ability to manifest what and who we need in our lives when we need it the most.
The world needs more teams, communities and families working towards higher meaning that extend beyond profit. These beautiful faces are a part of the family helping and pushing me towards greater and higher meaning everyday.
