Annual pilgrimage to Mt Angel Oktoberfest featuring pretzel queen @nicoleaperkins.

My homemade dirndl made from liberty fabrics got the most compliments this year, which I was tickled by. Got inspired by many other beautiful dirndls…that I might make another one with even. more. trims.

Pictures also highlight my blessing from the ethereal corndog, the beautiful bean and seed art at the Harvest Monument, and Nicole serenading while delivery my zero-proof pils and schnitzel sando the size of my head. by @jules.makes

Merging my me-mades and @portlandfirewnba fandom.

Glitter Night called for pink and glitter for the debut of @itsrosethedragon. 🔥

Layered my self-drafted organza dress over my vintage 2001 PDX Fire jersey I got from my very first WNBA game. Paired with my ruffle hem mod of @munaandbroad #BirchgrovePants.

Ahoy and huzzah from the Oregon Renaissance Faire!

The faire theme for the weekend was Pirates, but I had to do it in my color palette! The outfit is completely handmade utilizing thrifted items with details below:

🏴‍☠️Corset is the #ForagerStays pattern by @hagandcompany using remnants from my #GormanButFatter dress

🏴‍☠️ Hat is a felt hat I thrifted and tacked up to make a tricorn hat, adding embellishments from my stash and a few crucial feathers from @millendstorepdx

🏴‍☠️ Chemise too is from a thrifted sheet and YouTube tutorial and pants are from my closet which are the #BirchgrovePants by @munaandbroad in a nice cotton/linen from @boltfabricpdx

🏴‍☠️ Skirt is updated from last years 4 yards of linen fabric from @boltfabricpdx to now include some ruching channels and elastic waist

🏴‍☠️ Accessories include thrifted belts and basket, plus a scarf from my closet, a small pouch and skirt hike I made last year, a thrifted tankard, my most pirate-y jewelry, and importantly compression socks and gardening birks clogs in the perfect color. Oh and a corn dog bigger than my head!!

I also had the joy to continue the tradition where I craft my honorary nieces’ headwear. This year I saw these summer witch hats that were fun to create and decorate with them. A green and blue witch respectively. The youngest was less interested but found some very suitable cat ears at the faire.

Quilt #5!

Made for my new nephew! Little baby tomato 🍅 pomodorino filling us all with love!

His big brother’s quilt had mushrooms on the back, so we settled on a tomato theme with his parents. As soon as I saw it I quickly bought this gorgeous Japanese fabric from @josephinesdrygoods for the backing that inspired the colors for the quilt top solids that I then found at @boltfabricpdx.

Pattern is #Kissing9Patch from @pompommag @lydia_shmidia and quilted on my home sewing machine with 1.5” grid.

Didn’t realize that I included his middle name in the quilt signature as well since I’m lucky enough to be his namesake, I was a puddle in the hospital when this was revealed 🥹. Welcome Enzo Jules! by @jules.makes

Quilt #4

For sweet, sweet baby of @keekeecreates.

Making a quilt for a fellow quilter is always a little high stakes. Luckily Courtney had an amazing color palette to work with. Hope baby Nolan loves snuggling and drooling on this!

Pattern is #OverUnderQuilt by @jessirash in lovely quilt cottons from my gals at @josephinesdrygoods.

Inspired by the marbling of the teal fabric, I attempted my first wavy pattern on my home sewing machine to quilt the pieces together and feel like it really adds to the movement of the quilt. by @jules.makes

My 6th Annual — Office Holiday Party Dress Reveal!

What a way to get some sewjo back then leverage an excuse to dress up.

This year I made a @silversagapatterns #EleonoraDressPattern size 54 (the largest size) view A with A/B cup and with short sleeves. I picked up this lovely Anna Maria echinacea print in the perfect pink color-way at @jeanmariesfabrics while in Eugene, OR earlier this year.

What have I learned in my 6 years of making holiday office party dresses? I like something that is bright, colorful, and doesn’t necessarily say “winter holiday” but with the right accessories can definitely be. I love a ruffle. Complexity might not be your friend because I’ll leave the making to the last minute.

Most importantly, I learned how magical sewing is to dream up your ideal garment for a special occasion.

Read on for fit adjustments and general sewing notes:

I only had 4 yards, so made the 2 panel skirt with pockets. While being out of the size range when even making the largest size, the ease allowed me to fit into the dress. I also shorted the elastic on the sleeves by 1.5” after it feeling extra loose.

Changes next time would be to add a little more width in the waist of the bodice (maybe 3-4” to match design intent of the bodice) and lower it by 1” at the center front. And add 1-2” to the length of the hem. Also will find a fabric I have lots of yardage in for the fullness of the 4 panel skirt is the dream.

Quilt #3!

Lovingly crafted for my long distance bestie’s kiddo for her first birthday! HBD Esme!!

To make a quilt for another quilter feels high stakes. The brief was “primary colors” to match the nursery. @moderndomestic helped pick out fabrics that complimented each other, while delivering an overall colorful feel. Can’t capture it fully but the white stars have a speckled primary thread sprinkled through! I love the pink/red binding. The backing used all scraps I was pretty pleased with.

Quilt Pattern is the #EdnaQuilt by @penelopehandmade. Quilted by me on my home sewing machine using a 2” grid.

Excited to see Esme grow up loving and using this. by @jules.makes

Can you believe this is my first time at a RenFaire?

I’m always down to make a costume, so I was happy to tag along as honorary Auntie to escort my favorite Princesses in all the land to the @oregonfaire. We had craft time to make princess hats and I worked through my stash for my outfit.

Once I saw the @_fortiv_ #TulipTop I knew it would work as a top in this beautiful crinkle cotton remnant from @blackbirdfabrics. Layered over a bedsheet turned into a chemise using a blog post directions. The skirt on top is 3 gathered yards of pink linen from @boltfabricpdx.

Also whipped up a little pouch to slide into my belt from drop cloth remnants and made some skirt hikes out of some other remaining canvas scraps and D rings.

Me Made May out of order lol, but had to have a spot on the grid for this highlight.

I can’t stop talking about @loose.threads.pdx, what @justcourtneyk / @keekeecreates and I have created in merging our love of improv and sewing. Here we are in ME MADES on the news baybee!
