$Mercedes by New Rug Studio x Julian Zacharias Eide The work depicts the dented hood of a Mercedes. It begins as a craft-based investigation into perception: how can a surface rendered exclusively in black and white nevertheless evoke the experience of color? Through reflections, refractions, and subtle gradations of light, color emerges not as an inherent property of things, but as an effect of seeing itself. The work turns attention to the conditions of perception and to the ways in which reality is not simply given, but brought into being through the act of looking.
