Unboxing “The MicroCosmic Oracle” publisher edition! I am so happy with hope this turned out and I think you’re going to like it too.
This edition will be available March 28 in the US and April 28 worldwide.

You can pre-order your copy now through my bio, or from your favorite online book retailer. I recommend Bookshop.org as they help support local bookstores!

I loved the self-published edition, which is now sold out, and this new version is even more gorgeous. By releasing it through @redfeather.mbs I’ll be able to get it into more hands at a more affordable price point.

I know things are dark right now. I’m hoping that by releasing more of these into the world, more people will be able to benefit from the grounding, guidance, and inspiration that infuse every card. by @juliayillustrations

I’ve never used AI in my art and I never will.
This is a timelapse of 40 years of my artistic development, compressed down to two minutes. My ability to make art is an accumulation of thousands of hours of practice and training. I was not born with the ability to draw. I was born with the passion and dedication to learn how to draw.

Literally anyone could do this, it just takes practice and effort. There have never been more free or low-cost options for learning how to make art. You can get painting lessons from Youtube that I had to go to college for. You could put down social media for 5 minutes and doodle on a napkin. But you are never going to learn how to actually make art if you keep using AI to steal from others so you can pretend you created something.

I spent 2,000 hours over 6 years handcrafting the paintings for “The MicroCosmic Oracle”, only to release it in 2023 when AI slop was flooding the tarot and oracle deck market. Independent artists are having a hard time getting their work seen since every shop and site on the internet is now filled with AI garbage.

Every time you generate some AI slop, an independent artist has a harder time getting their work seen and has to scream into the void of the internet a little bit louder in the hopes that someone will see what they made.

Generative AI isn’t some harmless morally-neutral fairy discovered in a cave. It is the product of a multi-billion dollar tech industry designed to redistribute compensation away from creatives and back to Big Tech. It offers the illusion of creativity while dumbing down your own capacity to develop your own creative skills.

Do better. Go pick up a pencil and draw. I believe you can do it.

Apparently this amazing audio is by @xoxo.indii , but this is literally what my brain sounds like every time I see AI garbage posing as art.

“The MicroCosmic Oracle” is a deck that combines astrology, herbalism, and myths and symbolism connected with the animal world.

The set includes 60 excellentquality, slightly thicker cards with a matte finish and metallic shiny holo edges (love them!).
Each card features a beautiful illustration with flora and fauna associated with a particular card message. In addition, pictures include symbolism connected with zodiac signs, planets, and elements, as well as a geometric symbol created by the deck’s author based on the numerology of the individual zodiac signs.
At the bottom of each card, you’ll find its title and the astrological placement it represents, such as Mercury in Virgo, Sun in Pisces, and so on.

The deck comes with an English language guidebook that explains the meaning of each astrological placement, as well as the symbolism of the plant and animal assigned to each card. I also really like the way the guidebook itself has been designed. The page edges are color coded to correspond with the different sections: the introduction and the cards associated with the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. This makes navigating the guidebook very intuitive and genuinely convenient.

Overall, I think “The MicroCosmic Oracle” is a very well done and thoughtfully designed deck. Of course, it isn’t an astrology manual, but I really like the way it explores different zodiac signs through their placements in selected planets. There is genuinely a lot of educational content here relating to astrology, herbalism, and mythology, which means the deck can be much more than just a divination tool.

I find the messages of the cards to be strongly connected with everyday life, current emotions, and whatever is happening in the here and now. That’s exactly why I enjoy using “The MicroCosmic Oracle” as a daily pull or as an additional layer in a tarot reading.

I thought of this really stupid pun about the fixed star Fomalhaut and had to make these stickers and buttons so I could get it out of my head. You’re welcome.

For my 45th birthday I did an ancestry test and confirmed that I am 110% That Bitch with a 10% margin of error. Which means I may be as much as 120%.*

Seriously tho, this past year has brought monumental triumphs and tragedies in equal measure. I became a published author and illustrator, did my first professional card readings, had my art in some gallery shows, did an astrology lecture at NW Tarot Symposium, went to Hawai’i, and travelled the country selling my art. And I had the sickest hair all year thanks to @razorbabescissorwizard

My life has been so unbelievable, but not without its challenges. I lost my sweet boy Harvey, my constant companion of 16 years. I also endured some family losses that I’m not inclined to tell the Internet about.

I got to spend my birthday with my friends and wonderful partner, who made me my very first homemade gf CrunchWrap Supreme. I’m currently kicking off Year 46 in Chicago, ready to vend for UAC tomorrow and starting my season of travel shows.

Year 46, let’s fuckin go.

*these statistics are obviously inaccurate. I would never allow a 10% margin of error. by @juliayillustrations

I’ll be at PNW Witches’ Market today. I’ll be vending from 12-5pm AND giving a workshop!

2:30PM- Your Mars Wants to Fight: Connecting to Mars in your chart to find your path to activism and community support.”

Mars is treated as a troublemaker in astrology. As a malefic planet, they’re responsible for war, violence, and aggression. But what if Mars just needs a constructive outlet for anger? When applied with awareness and intention, we can channel our rage into activism.

We’ll discuss Mars throughout the 12 zodiac signs and collaboratively identify ways that we can use our Mars placements to fight for the good of our communities. This talk is for those who are trying to find a sustainable and authentic form of resistance to systemic oppression.

This is an introductory level workshop by Julia Y, local artist, astrologer, and the creator of “The MicroCosmic Oracle.” No previous astrological knowledge is required. Please comment with a 🔥 if you plan on attending. taken in Pickering Barn by @juliayillustrations
