Forever engraved ✍🏻🏆

Nikki Hiltz gave everything they had in the final stages of the women’s Wanamaker Mile to take home their first career title.

More importantly, their name also joins the laundry list of legendary winners on the Wanamaker trophy. #MillroseGames

Sometimes in life experiences will change you. Last week I had the pleasure of connecting with the Smoot family and their brave a beautiful daughter Lilah who is battling brain cancer. I am constantly inspired by athletes that push their bodies to do hard things but Katelynn and Tyler Smoot live their life with a courage and fierceness I have never seen. Please follow along the Smoot Family journey and fall in love with Lilah like I have https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-by-lilah-in-her-cancer-fight taken in Franklin Field, University of Pennsylvania by @julibenson44

We love our humble queen 👸😅

Juli Benson is one of the most accomplished distance runners and coaches in our sport — and she coaches several athletes on our team! Even though she doesn’t like the spotlight, we’re still going to give her the hype she deserves. Here are just a few of her amazing accomplishments:

🇺🇸1996 Olympian in the 1500m
🏆Coached Jenny Simpson to a World Championship title
⭐️Coach of multiple Olympians, national record holders, and World Championship qualifiers
⏱️15+ years of experience coaching at the D1 NCAA level
🙌Coach and Mentor to all levels of athletes, from beginner to pro

We are so grateful to have such an impactful, knowledgable, and incredible leader helping our athletes chase their dreams. Much love and appreciation for Coach Juli! (Even when she doesn’t want to make videos with us 🤣) by @julibenson44

This week’s guest on the Fast People podcast is coach and 1500m Olympian Juli Benson. She has been doing big things in the sport for a long time, but she’s gotten more attention since @nikkihiltz announced last month that they’re now being coached by Benson.

In this episode, Benson discusses her path to becoming an Olympian and coach, how she wound up coaching Jenny Simpson and Kevin Sullivan, the seven pro runners she currently coaches (@m_sughroue, @skylyn_webb, @boredmadie, @steeple_squigs, @helenschlach, and @emma_gee1777), helping athletes navigate social media, the lack of opportunities for female coaches at the professional level, the changing technology in the sport, and more.

This photo is from the early Fast Women archives. I was happy that the CD (not even DVD) it is stored on still worked. It’s also from early in Benson’s coaching career. She is on the far left, and the late Ron Helmer is on the right. They’re on the podium at the 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championships, where Georgetown finished third. If you look closely, you can see the high tech scoreboard in the background.

🔗 COACH ON COACH — @chris.miltenberg & @julibenson44

🗣️ “Juli Benson is the best person I have ever met at getting someone to believe in themselves. The best. That was true when we were in college and I watch her do it now — the BEST.”

Now that’s high praise. 🙌
