Gratitude post - 2025-2026 season

Now that my regular season is over, I would like to reflect back and thank the team of people who helped me get the most out of myself!

I started working with Coach @julibenson44 in November, 2025 with the goal of getting as close as I could to a personal goal of running a 2:20 800m. I first learned about Juli from listening to a podcast after she started coaching Emma Gee and Nikki Hiltz and other pros. Juli is an Olympian in the 1500m so not only is she an amazing coach, she has the experience of racing with the best of the best. We both believed I could achieve my goal given my 400 WR (61.7) and my masters W60 WR of 2:22.52. Everything was going well through the APU Franson Last Chance meet on May 8th, but I aggravated my hip labrum (which I tore high jumping in 2015) and it started to seize up on me. I was scheduled to compete in the 800m at the LA Track Fest at UCLA on May 23rd but I had to pull out due to the hip issue. It took 6-8 weeks to feel back to normal and I was able to pull together a couple of wins at the Canadian Masters Championships in July/Aug.

Indoor Season (per World Masters Rankings)
200 - 4th in the world, 3rd in USA
400 - 1st in the world, 1st in USA
800 - 1st in the world, 1st in USA

Outdoor Season
200 - 4th in the world, 2nd in USA
400 - 2nd in the world, 1st in USA
800 - 1st in the world, 1st in USA (99.55% age grade)

A big thank you to my husband, Michael, for all the support and letting me travel and compete around the world. Super grateful for my partnerships with Cynthia Monteleone - (@earthen_hawaii and @fastover40) @elliptigo_usa, @mitoredlightofficial, @ketobrainz, @kibraactive and @gibbon.usa.

I still have a few post season races - .up next is the 1500 at a meet in my hometown, Santa Barbara followed by a fun road 5k at the USATF Masters 5k Road Championships and lastly, my first-ever trail race in Santa Ynez - the HOKA Pacific Trails California 25k by UTMB on November 15th!

How lucky am I?!?! 😌

To not only have a job doing what I love, but to work alongside and learn from some of the very best to ever do it.

Josh Rowe. Jim Spier. Paul Limmer. Tim Fulton... just to name a few.

These are people whose vision, passion, and dedication have created opportunities for generations of young athletes, including me. I still have plenty of pinch-me moments realizing I get to learn from them and be part of this incredible team.

Nike Outdoor Nationals and the U20 Champkonships were nothing short of spectacular.
❇️Nearly 7,000 athletes competed across Nike Outdoor Nationals and the USATF U20 Championships—a new all-time NSAF record
❇️1 National Record
❇️2 National Class Records
❇️33 Meet Records
❇️8 Hayward Field Records
❇️42% of the USATF U20 team heading to the World Athletics U20 Championships are current or former athletes from NSAF development programs. (Take a bow, @mechellelewisfreeman 🙇‍♀️)

Watching thousands of athletes, coaches, and families experience Hayward Field while chasing their dreams made every long day worth it.

Here’s to another unforgettable year of NON💚

“You can re-trace a lot of American middle distance running’s coaching tree back to Gags…That’s one of the coolest parts to the history of our sport.” 🇺🇸

More than 300 friends, family members, former athletes and colleagues showed up to Icahn Stadium on Sunday as USA Track and Field honored legendary coach Frank Gagliano for his contributions to the sport. 👏

What happens when you share your BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) with a friend?

In my case... you end up at the LA Track Fest! 🏃‍♀️💨

A friend recently asked if I was chasing any world records this year. It has been two years since my most exciting season ever—where 9 world records in the W60-64 category went down—and my answer was simple: I want to run 2:20 in the 800m.

I’ve been chasing 2:20 for eight years. Although I set the current World Record at 2:22.52 in 2023 and hit 2:22.81 in 2024, that 2:20 mark is still out there. My speed is there. My endurance is there. I just need that one race where it all clicks.

I’ll be honest: sharing such a massive goal publicly makes me incredibly uncomfortable. But I believe in myself, my coach believes in me, and I have the best support system behind me. Why limit myself? If I don’t hit it, I know my team will love me just the same, and I’ll be proud that I had the courage to step up to the line.

The LA Track Fest is providing pacers and wavelights—technology I’ve never experienced before. I am so curious to see what’s possible on May 23rd!

@allysonfelix said it best in her comeback post: “What is still humanly possible at this age? It is scary. It’s exciting. The most vulnerable I’ve ever been... What if success isn’t defined by the outcome - but by the courage it takes to try?”

I’m not comparing myself to Allyson, but I can certainly relate to her words. I may not lower my world record, and I may not hit 2:20 on the first try... but the season is just beginning! ⚡️

📍 See you at Drake Stadium, UCLA on May 23! If you can’t make it in person, you can watch it on FloTrack!
