In my creative world this week: keeping my head and hands in the game

Intention: To make art everyday 🎨 Husband is away and any flat surface is fair game for spreading out.

Inspiration: Continuing onwards with this months mark making practice. In search of interesting paint interactions and brushstrokes that speak to me (and hopefully a little different than what I normally do)

Imagination: I love how a whole bunch of marks interact together to tell their story

Ideas: Large sketchbook pages ripped up and into the Creative Journal as ideas and inspiration for later work

I hope all of your energy and enthusiasm is still going strong in this longest month of the year….

There is just something about the unexpected in these. Small, yet mighty. Odd little shapes that just spark the imagination.

I can’t help but admire these little beauties. They just play together so nicely. All ready to be framed..

I often have to remind myself…it is just paint.

-> but somehow it’s never just paint…

I am in awe of how it can transform my day. It can lift me and it can most definitely unravel me. It can make my day and it often breaks my day. It is the only thing that can really shift my mood. Creating holds so much emotion, energy, memory and life ->>

I trust it. It just seems to know what’s best for me at any given moment. This is where it has been taking me recently-> 🎨 by @juliehamiltoncreative

BOTANICALLY INSPIRED🌿

Rhythm. Repetition. A change in Orientation —> A sense of movement and growth . All simplified into a silhouette.

I am having a little bit of fun with this commission. It’s always interesting to take a step back and look at all the ways I have portrayed this series in the past and see where I can go with it next.

COLORS ARE SHIFTING..

My creative mood is feeling a little bit fickle right about now. A little bit summer — A little bit Fall. I want it all.

Does anyone else feel the shift in their painting palette? More warm and earthy colors showing up. Wanting to ground and cozy up. Fortunately for me that means More Art Making so I am inviting it in 💛
