At the beginning of the year I herniated a disc in my back that left me bedridden and in constant agony with nerve pain. I could not do anything! Just trying to shift in bed was a nightmare. I ultimately had spinal surgery at the end of April and I’m slowly recovering. But when Garrett’s birthday was coming up I wanted to do something extra special for him because for months he went above and beyond while I was down. He made it so I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. So I whisked him away for a long weekend at Sensei Lana’i to rest and relax. 20 years! Two. Zero. Twenty?! We spent our anniversary waking up at 3am to hike 15 hour days, not showering for a week, blowing out our knee caps- and we loved every second! Peru was absolutely stunning in every way. I wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate any other way! Finally getting around to posting Japan! Maddox chose Japan for his senior trip and despite almost melting to death everyday we had the Best time ever! I’m so proud of Maddox and so excited for him to be on his own and create a life for himself, but man! I am really really missing him. While in Japan I just wanted to soak up every single second I had with him. I wanted every minute to feel like a year. I wanted to hold on to him and never let go. When the moment came to say goodbye it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. How do I just walk away?! My first baby. My Maddox. Congratulations!! I am so deeply proud of you and the man you have become. Graduation has been such a wild experience… I’m pretty sure I’ve cried more in the last few months to last a lifetime. Wasn’t I just rocking him to sleep in the middle of the night? Didn’t I just drop him off for his first day of kindergarten? I can’t help but feel so sad for this chapter of our lives together to end, but also so so so excited for him to write his own. I love you so much, Maddox! Now go make some trouble in Santa Barbara!!CheeeeeeeeHooooooo!

10 days in the Czech Republic and we barely scratched the surface! Everywhere you looked was a picturesque scene of cobble stone streets, ancient buildings, and bright yellow flowering fields. Not even airplane illnesses, a trip to the hospital in an ambulance, and a broken down rental car could keep us from having the best time ever!!😅 Thank you so much @allisonadavis1 for being an amazing travel partner once again!
