Coffee Adventures around Japan (mostly Starbucks but we'll see)

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Today, I took a trip to Ginza to visit some extra special Starbucks stores, the first of which is Japan's first Starbucks store, which opened back in 1996.

The decision to open the first store in the Ginza district, was very purposeful decision. Ginza was, and still is, a massive hub for coffee shops and tea houses.

The store is extra special, because it's not only the first store in Japan and Asia, but also Starbucks's first store outside of North America, before tipping their toes in the European market 2 years later in London. This is also why Starbucks's connection to Japan is very particular and special, and why Japan's Starbucks market is completely separate from the rest of Asia.

After nearly 30 years of service, the store is still open and running, with a few nods to it's heritage inside, but furthermore being a very run-of-the-mill Starbucks store.
Just around the corner is Japan's only Reserve store, which I also visited. I'll talk about it in a separate post. taken in 松屋銀座 Matsuya Ginza by @julikohi

My final experience in Singapore was this really cool reverse espresso machine, which pulls the espresso shots from bottom to top, right into the shot glasses.
The milk itself was steamed directly into the pitcher, without a steam wand. Thanks to the people at the Starbucks Reserve at Jewel Changi for showing off this machine! taken in Starbucks Reserve Roastery at Jewel by @julikohi

Absolute mind-boggling experience today!
I decided to bring my dad to the nearby Starbucks Reserve store to teach him how to taste a coffee, and it just so happened that the Store Manager and District Manager were sitting right next to us, and were wondering where all my Coffee Passports came from.

They then offered to take me behind the bar to take a picture (with a borrowed apron, sorry forgot mine in my luggage). They then asked me if I wanted to try making a latte on their (very nice, very expensive) Reserve Black Eagle, to which I happily obliged. I was given a crash course by one of their amazing Coffee Masters on how to use it, and then made my own.

Huge props and thanks to the wonderful and kind staff at Starbucks Marina Bay Sands Singapore! Absolutely unforgettable experience so early into my trip taken in Starbucks Reserve Marina bay Sands by @julikohi
