For half a century, the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg and North Brooklyn has been a leading resource for Jewish New Yorkers — including in the development of housing and social services.

That’s why the Council is proud to announce a $1.1M investment for the organization’s tireless commitment to service.

Here’s to fifty more years of helping Jewish New Yorkers thrive! by @julmenin

What an honor to march as a Grand Marshal in today’s 44th Annual Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade!

Over 800,000 Italian Americans across the five boroughs call this city their home — from Howard Beach to Arthur Avenue; from Mulberry Street to Morris Park.

At the City Council, whether we’re marching together or celebrating the Feast of San Gennaro, we are committed to championing the beautiful culture that generations of Italian Americans have brought to our city. by @julmenin

@BrGround has connected New Yorkers to essential services for nearly four decades, and through their work, continues to bring new jobs, economic opportunities and housing to our city — serving more than 13,000 vulnerable New Yorkers each year.

It was an honor to celebrate Breaking Ground’s commitment to helping so many of our neighbors thrive at their Home and Community Gala last night.

We are deeply grateful for their work to bring New Yorkers the housing, equity, and care they deserve. by @julmenin

For 70 years, @FWANYC has advocated for women’s opportunities in finance, leadership, and professional development across New York City.

It was an incredible honor to be with so many trailblazers, members, and alumni to celebrate all that the Financial Women’s Association has brought to life.

You continue to lead the charge for the next generation of women leaders. by @julmenin

Happy Italian American Heritage Month!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of honoring two Italian American legends right here at City Hall — @RosannaScotto and @ChazzPalminteri. Thank you both for your amazing contributions to media and New York City.

Italian New Yorkers’ tradition continues to shape and elevate New York City, and we're so grateful for all the culture, history and of course, food, that you’ve shared with us for centuries. by @julmenin

On this incredibly solemn day, I was proud to stand with elected officials and community members in Brooklyn to honor the victims of the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks and stand with all those whose lives were forever changed.

Three years later, we must ensure their memories endure. That’s why we are calling for the creation of New York’s first permanent October 7th memorial to remember the lives lost, honor the survivors, and ensure we never forget. by @julmenin

While SpaceXAI declined to attend our hearing and was subpoenaed, UK Member of Parliament Jess Asato flew across the Atlantic Ocean to testify in person at City Hall.

The @NYCCouncil is grateful for your inspiring testimony, MP Asato. We will continue to fight for sensible guardrails against the risks of AI. by @julmenin

Sixth Avenue is one of New York's prominent business corridors — and we have organizations like @AveofAmericasNY to thank for that.

I was glad to join them this morning to talk about how to further improve our city, addressing pressing issues like building more affordable housing, making it easier for residents to open small businesses, and ensuring public safety for all. by @julmenin

The New York Historical has displayed relics of our city and our nation's past since 1804 — and it's still growing.

Yesterday, Deputy Speaker @cmnantashawilliams and I had the opportunity to tour the new Tang Wing for Democracy and its expanded teaching center. I also visited the top floor, which is soon to become the American LGBTQ+ Museum — a fitting exhibit for the city in which the Pride movement was born — especially during LGBTQ+ History Month.

Through these exhibits, New Yorkers can learn about the progress we've made over the past 250 years, and the people who pushed for it. by @julmenin

We will never forget what happened on October 7th.

Three years ago, more than 1,200 people were murdered in the horrific Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, and 251 people were taken hostage.

We recently hosted Nova Festival survivors Shalev Biton and Younes Alkarnawi at City Hall, together with my colleagues and @UJAfedNY. Shalev escaped the festival grounds just in time, finding refuge at Younes' nearby farm along with 32 other attendees.

Heroic actions like these remind us that even with the evils that exist today, we must continue to respond to that hate with hope — and we will continue matching that hope with action and pray for peace in the region. by @julmenin

Last Shabbat, I joined @govkathyhochul, her husband Bill and @seawrightforny at Temple @ShaarayTefila to unwind the torah to mark the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah.

It’s a time when Jewish people recognize the end of reading the story of the Old Testament and dance with Torahs.

Here’s to rolling that happiness into 5787! by @julmenin
