15 to 20 times your body weight. 🤯

Every single time a triple jumper lands the hop or the step, their body absorbs forces that would literally snap an untrained leg.

Pound-for-pound, TJ athletes are the most robust, explosive humans on the track. But surviving those forces year after year isn’t luck—it comes down to having the right structural blueprint and building the right “armor.”

Here is the realistic body type breakdown that lasts long-term:

1. High Power-to-Weight Ratio: Every extra pound of non-functional mass is a massive liability on the runway. Durable jumpers are incredibly lean. You want a powerful posterior chain, but a light, streamlined upper body.

2. Long Levers & Elastic Tendons: Look at the guys with decade-long careers. They almost always have long, springy levers and high Achilles tendon insertions. Those long tendons act like giant steel springs, storing and dumping elastic energy so the muscles don’t take the brunt of the beating.

3. Absolute Joint Stiffness: If your ankles, feet, or hips “buckle” on contact, you’re leaking energy and destroying your joints. You need rock-solid ankle complexes that act like concrete blocks the millisecond they hit the board.

4. Posterior Chain Dominance: Quad-dominant jumpers have a short shelf life. The athletes who last hunt the ground with their hips using massive glute and hamstring strength to redirect horizontal velocity.

📘 How to build this (Without breaking your athletes)

You can’t just throw athletes into high-intensity TJ phases and hope they survive. You have to systematically prepare their joints and tendons.

That is why I built The Bounding Playbook. It’s a complete, step-by-step framework showing you exactly how to progress your bounding throughout the season starting with low-impact coordination and building up to high-intensity, elastic bounds.

23.5 MPH down the runway is absolute madness. 🤯

Breaking down Tajay Gayle’s legendary 8.69m world-championship-winning jump in Doha. When you pair 10.5 m/s runway speed with a 2.55m final stride, you get an elite takeoff angle and a massive 0.80 seconds of hang time.

Notice how efficiently he maintains that horizontal velocity through the board.

What do you think is the most impressive metric here? The approach speed or the hang time? Let’s talk mechanics in the comments. 👇

One is Dwight Phillips. The other? Irving Saladino. 🇵🇦

When Saladino hit 8.73m (28’7.75”) in Hengelo back in 2008, he didn’t just cement his name in the history books he set up a historic run that ended Panama’s 60-year Olympic medal drought with a Gold in Beijing.

The air gets real thin north of 8.70m. Only 8 men in history have ever done it.

Drop a 👑 in the comments if you remember watching Saladino dominate the late 2000s.
