@junfujisaku reinterprets the order and values associated with the home, making modular furniture and everyday objects designed to change form and function.

His approach is radical and playful: an ironing board turns into an office chair, a cabinet collapses into a desk, a broom into a suitcase—these are hybrid tools that shift among everyday typologies, gender roles, and cultural codes.

He has developed a modular language for these transformations, using industrial aluminium profiles and wood, creating works that are inherently participatory and architecturally relational. Staging small-scale spatial choreographies, Fujisaku’s craft modulates our relationship to domestic and office environments, renegotiating everyday interactions within the hidden structures of recognised and unrecognised forms of labour.

Constellation of Small Things
CST-01

is a series of hangers that applies the system of toys—objects not necessarily designed for practical use—to the creation of functional objects for everyday life.

The small components extend in different directions, like the orbits of different planets, and are joined at points that happen to overlap. Each connection is small and uncertain, yet through the accumulation of these “miracles,” the individual components come together to form a constellation—a single structure, imbued with meaning and strong enough to resist external forces.

It suggests how the accumulation of individual acts of creation within a home can influence larger structures and environments.

These constellations will be shown @united.cowboys as part of the “NO MAN’S BEDROOM” exhibition organized by @home.coming.collective for this year’s @dutchdesignweek ✨

Full Tune Chair (FTC-01)

I remember now. I wanted to modify things.

As a child, I wanted a Tamiya Mini 4WD, but what I got was a hole-riddled car that my cousin had already modified and played with to exhaustion.

Taking this opportunity, I modified the chair I was given, borrowing techniques from Mini 4WD tuning. Techniques such as reducing weight, shifting the centre of gravity, and adding bearings—originally intended to reach the finish line faster—take on a different role, becoming ornaments that bring colour to everyday life. This is modification that prioritises beauty over winning or competition.

FTC-01 is a sample made for @project.alter.locatie at @dutchdesignweek
On October 20, I plan to Full Tune another chair brought in by a neighbor at Plug-in City in Strijp-S.🧰 by @junfujisaku

Jun’s edition of alteration is all about tuning. A plain, abandoned chair is transformed into something elegantly boisterous through an assortment of found functional materials, from metal hardware to letter stickers revealing the source of material. Driven by his childhood desire to tune Mini 4WD, a Japanese toy racing car, he improvises hand-cut pine parts following the chair's original curve. Jun gives a chair wings.

Enchant the Table

is a small structure designed to sit on a table, integrating a chime, a cutlery holder, and a candle holder into a single object.

The sound of a chime has the power to captivate people of all ages and transform an ordinary moment into something special. By bringing together the extraordinary quality of a musical instrument with the practical functions of objects used in everyday life, Enchant the Table becomes a device capable of casting a spell at unexpected moments in daily life.

A magic that can become a catalyst for transforming the relationships and forms of communication that inhabit domestic space.

Just as musical instruments and sets of cutlery often come with their own dedicated cases, this small structure also has a case of its own. By placing it inside and carrying it from one place to another, perhaps its magic can spread and overflow into many different places. by @junfujisaku

Enchant the Table

The hungry gather around the table.
A piece of cutlery is lifted.
The chime is struck.
A meal begins.

Children—and adults, too—
are drawn to the temptation of making sound.

For another serving.
For a change of subject.
For a meal that leaves something to be desired.

Each ring transforms the ordinary.

The sound travels through the room,
casting a small spell upon the table
and everything gathered around it.

A custom art crate ships more air than object across an ocean, and for designers outside the Western market centers, the freight bill is one of the main determining factors of whether emerging designers enter the global design conversation at all.

‘packing list’ takes the quotidian Japanese craft of wrapping and securing objects for transit, the hand-tied rope work, the modular crates, the weight distribution and orientation marks, and recontextualizes it as the design vocabulary of the exhibition itself.

New work by Jun Fujisaku reconfigures as it moves, borrowing the logic of the Japanese interior where a single room becomes a bedroom, a study, or a tea space depending on which panel slides.

Collaborators from Taiwan, South Korea, and Lebanon join the Japanese core: George Baida, Jun Fujisaku, Kai-Hsiang Wen, Leo Koda, Serim Kwack, and Yuji Inoue.

First Landscape

First Landscape is a piece of furniture that reinforces the form of a cardboard box for practical use, and can transform into a partition or a coffee table.

For my family, the act of moving—transporting our lives—has always been something familiar. We pack the foundations of our everyday life into brown boxes. In the quiet, pristine white space of a newly entered home, only those cardboard boxes exist. We eat on top of them. We stack them to create our own territories. It is a primordial scene in which a new life begins to take shape—the most innocent and creative moment of living.

This object returns us to that pure, blank moment before the various rules and conventions embedded within domestic space come into being, while also allowing us to rediscover the joy of freely shaping our own way of living.

This my new piece will be shown as a part of the exhibition: packing list organized by @_multistandard_ at @spaziomilesi during Milan Design Week 2026📦 by @junfujisaku
