🤍 feeling really emotional to have completed this three week online writing fellowship with @nationalwritershouse

It’s one thing to consider yourself a writer and another to have your writing validated by other writers reading and critiquing it.

I’m so grateful for the tenderness and wisdom of my fellows, @rae.elliot.white @taytay.jade @krystle_jadeh @katerinabryantwriter @tyswanslater

Our mentors, @maryannebutlerwriter and @writesfiona

The Industry mentors and the Varuna team

Everyone of them are really beautiful writers and it’s an honour to have worked amongst them. by @jurozone

💕The other night I presented a talk at @melbournemotion about approaching Arts Funding as digital creatives & animators.

💜I recognise it was a lot of information, delivered at motor- mouth, Mediter-stralian speeds,so here is an abridged version.

🎲I realise this is still a lot of info. So save this carousel for your next grant application.

Thanks again to @jasonpoley for asking me to talk.

Welcome to The Disappointing Friend Podcast!

A labor of love that we’re incredibly proud of. This podcast is a celebration of the beautiful mess that is friendship. It’s about showing up for the people in our lives, even when we don’t always get it right. Juliet Miranda Rowe @jurozone and Fatuma Ndenzako @fatumandenzako have poured their hearts into this project, sharing their own stories of being the “disappointing friend” and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

We’re so grateful for the friendships that have shaped us and the people who have come into our lives, helping us grow into better versions of ourselves. Tune in for honest conversations, lots of laughs, and a deep appreciation for the imperfections that make our connections meaningful. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @jurozone

💙 in 2024 my friend @_alltribesarebeautiful_ put my name forward to @gurms.k as a writer to interview and illustrate him for@museumsvictoria anthology publication reflecting on their
culture makers program.

We talked about “Chess Without Borders” an event Maleik ran with his @atab.lab durrie chess sets at @immigrationmuseum_melb

In response, I illustrated how he envisioned the day, outside in the Museum courtyard. Long tables like a banquet!

He also tried to get some meta sunglasses to film POV’s of matches. That didn’t pan out however I could still animate them.

I also animated some 360 turnarounds of his chess pieces.

But most strikingly he said something that became the title of the interview “Home For Me Is Chess” I instantly saw a chess board shaped like a house. A home to carry wherever you go that you can share with anyone who will play against you.

I really loved working on these drawings & writing up our interview. You can see the whole publication online through Museums Victoria. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @jurozone

So Proud of my smart, funny, talented friends - keep the film in your conciousness and make sure you watch it when it envitably becomes a hit in theatres, festivals and or streamers

I’m bringing back old style IG grid posts in honour of 2026 being the ten year anniversary of 2016.

Here is an illustration of my old apartment broken down layer by layer for a little show I had at North Fitzroy library earlier this year. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @jurozone

I started drawing this panorama of my old living room during the 2020 lockdowns 🙃 At first as a way to pass the time.

I put it down for a few years only to finish it this year for a little exhibition in the North Fitzroy Library.

As a digital illustrator the rise of generative AI has taken a lot of the joy out of making in recent years. BUT printing out my work for this little show helped me rediscovered the beauty of my layers.

Separating them all out and printing them as their own finished image. Which hopefully show the labour and time I devote to my little coping mechanism that I managed to turn into skill and a career. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @jurozone

✨⭐️ Had a look over my website to think about how to update it / move forward career wise. When I realised that I in 2022 when I last rebranded it I never posted about it, looking at it was cool to remind myself that I once had- vision, a mission and values.

They still feel relevant but I had honestly forgotten about them.

Does anyone else need to update their website/ portfolio & think they could more easily get it done in the presence of others? Body double style? taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @jurozone
