A love letter to West Chester University:

Dear West Chester University,

This has been the best hello and now one of the hardest goodbyes. Thank you for being the place that allowed me to find myself, lose myself, and find myself again. Thank you for challenging me academically, professionally, and personally in ways that shaped me into the woman I am today.

You gave me more than degrees. You gave me purpose, leadership, community, lifelong friendships, memories, and the confidence to walk boldly into rooms I once questioned if I belonged in. From serving, leading, creating, and building community, every experience here prepared me for something greater.

As I leave with my Master’s in Public Policy & Administration, I realize this is not an ending. You are the kind of relationship that lasts despite distance. The kind you still come back to for homecomings, celebrations, milestones, and moments that feel like home. No matter where life takes me, a part of me will always belong here.

Thank you for watching me grow not once, but through every version of myself.

Add Event Coordinator + Event Decor to my resume because whew

I am beyond blessed to have coordinated an event that means so much to me. Legacy is defined as anything handed down from the past by an ancestor or predecessor, and being a part of the very first Lonce Scott II Legacy Foundation “Rooted in Legacy” Launch Fundraiser was truly surreal.

From weekly meetings and random phone calls to leading setup and our volunteer team, coordinating the day-of timeline, creating the program book, QR codes, PowerPoint, drink menus, and bringing the decor and vision to life allowed me to tap into a side of me that I knew already existed.

I’ve always loved bringing people together and creating experiences, but this event reminded me that this is something I’m GOOD at.

Being able to help carry on Lonce Scott II’s legacy is an honor I’ll never take for granted. And being able to give back to the Philadelphia community, a community that has given so much to me makes it even more special. by @just.journn

Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.

From the late nights to the long days, every step of this master’s journey felt a little lighter because I had my support system beside me through it all. Every prayer, pep talk, cry, call, and moment of support carried me here. After years of sacrifice, leadership, perseverance, community impact, and faith, I have officially earned my Master’s degree in Public Policy & Administration from West Chester University.

WHEREAS, I turned pressure into purpose,
WHEREAS, I continued serving my community while pursuing my goals,
WHEREAS, I led with compassion, conviction, and the desire to create meaningful change,

BE IT RESOLVED that this degree is more than a title. It is proof that resilience, leadership, advocacy, and purpose can all exist in the same journey.

Implementation begins immediately. Expected outcomes include creating impact, empowering communities, and inspiring others to dream bigger.

Yesterday, I had the honor of serving as the keynote speaker at an event that is truly close to my heart. Three years ago, I assisted at the very first BSUnity Day and to now play a key role in continuing its impact is a full-circle moment I don’t take for granted.

BSUnity Day brings together Black Student Unions from Philadelphia local high schools and West Chester University Black Student Union. What makes it even more special is that the entire event is led by current students and recent graduates. The mission is simple but powerful: to give high school students of color a real look at the West Chester experience through the voices of those who have lived it.

During my speech, I spoke about how college is so much more than just earning a degree. My time at West Chester University shaped me socially, academically, and personally. From the lifelong friendships I built, to the organizations that poured into me like, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, to the leader I grew into, I wanted to show that the experience goes far beyond the classroom.

This was such a meaningful moment for me, and I’m grateful to give back to the school and communities that have given so much to me taken in West Chester University of PA by @just.journn
