Abena Christine Jon’el recently made a striking appearance at the 15th edition of Rhythms on the Runway in Ghana, walking the runway with her prosthetic leg wrapped in a colourful African print.

Her advocacy is rooted in personal experience. At just two years old, she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, which led to the amputation of her right leg.

Photo dump part 2 (yall thought I forgot)
.
I’ve not yet spoken about all the people I met during this years travels.
.
Each one of these individuals provided a deeper insight on the cultures I visited, and even a deeper understanding of myself.
.
Solo travel can be lonely.. but this travel season.. I didn’t feel it as much as the last
.
Whether it’s slushies after a fashion show, walks up and down London late at night, experiencing a song bird live, or drinks late at night on top of a mountain somewhere..
.
These are moments I truly cherish, and I’ve left the forever inspired
.
I’ve learned that while travel isn’t perfect, it’s forever a learning opportunity..
.
Sometimes the lesson was boundaries, other times it was how to trust others.
.
Regardless.. being wrapped in these diffrent communities has naturally, leave a lasting impact on my life.
.
If you recognize a moment.. please know I truly hold these moments in my heart, and I am forever grateful for the kindness you showed
.
This year I met, new friends, revisited family, and discovering a deeper, more healed, version of myself.
.
Travel truly is my life.. and as usual.. I can’t wait for what’s next

Photo dump Part 1
.
I feel like everytime I travel I change.
.
I’m not sure if it’s the new environments creating it, or my own need/thirst for deeper self discovery that fuels it.
.
But I never leave a country as the same person who entered it.
.
This year my travels were intentional..
.
More cultural; less obscure
.
As a Black woman I wanted to experience more of the African continent.. hence why 6 out of the 7 months I was gone, was spent soley on the continent
.
Seeing the diversity in the Black experience was something I needed for my own purposes, and wish more [Black] people like me hunted out of their own will and desires
.
My experiences weren’t all positive — there were moments I haven’t spoken about yet (coming soon on my blog)
.
But I still left, and returned a more grounded, educated, and experienced woman than ever before.
.
And I truly have Africa to thank for that.
.
Ending the trip with family, and once in a lifetime experiences, regardless of how exhausting the travel was.. ended up being just as valuable to me
.
And each year, I will continue this journey, to myself, better understanding the world around me.. allowing me to dive deeper into who/what this life is about.
.
I am forever greatful and humbled by this years journey.
.
Yes, I am tried, as is my bank account (lol) but, my strength will return soon.. and once again, I’ll be traveling the world, chasing both a higher version of myself, and the true experiences that life has to offer ALL OF US.
.
When will I stop traveling, you may ask?
.
When my soul has returned to the stars.
.
Until then… there is always a flight for me to catch, a culture for me to experience, and a higher version of me to unlock.
.
And I will always invite you to experience it with me.
May my travels inspire you to begin your own..

While traveling this week had been ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTING. It was 1000% worth it.
.
#paris is my fav place to see the carters. Last time I was here was for Beyonce, this time it’s for Jay Z.
.
It’s an honor every time I get to witness their crafts live.
.
Both the Paris concert and THIS FIT, was my fav!
.
Will always come back here anytime they tour
.
So grateful for this experience

My first Jay Z concert was def worth the last two weeks I invested is revisiting his catalog.

They don’t make music like that no more.. revisiting it in my 30’s is just diffrent. And watching him preform his hustle live was a VIBEEEE ❤️❤️

Plus.. singing happy birthday to Beyonce + 1🐝❤️

Photo dump of my last few Kenyan activities.

With each country I touch, I reach a new level of growth within myself.
.
For me traveling isn’t about “posting for the gram” it’s about living for myself. Ensuring to FULLY live in the moment, enjoying each breath, each gust of wind, each smiling face and curious eyes that I encounter
.
When I get older, I don’t want to have to tell the children in my life “go look at instagram” to see what ive accomplished.
.
I want to be able to tell them WHAT I experienced first hand.. those special moments that changed me forever.
.
The more I travel, I remember just how much of this is for me. Everything I do is for me, yes while inspiring the world is important to me..
.
How can I inspire you to live for yourself, if I’m not doing the same for me?

Never trying to cover my leg, but I can’t help if this BODY takes up the whole frame.

SN: I’ve been processing a lot about how the world responds to disabilities. Too often we wear a “mark” that we never created.. but babes, that mark is actually on you!!
.
I am not longer carrying what doesn’t belong to me, if my self love and confidence reminds you of YOUR own internalized self hate. Then you need to see a therapist, or perhaps an exorcist.
.
But THIS body is NOT your self love or your mortality compass.
.
Compare all you’d like… you still not gonna stop, nor block this shine. ✨
