54 BELOW DEBUT!!!!! Performing in the first NYC reading of @ryanscottoliver ‘s Tomorrow, The Island Dies - what a dream!

I went into @actortherapynyc Summer Intensive with the goal of performing in new works of musical theater - and I’m so glad to say that it’s already happening! Can’t wait to dig into this material and share it with anyone looking for a maximally spooky end to October🌊🌫️🖤 by @justaspann

This one was a BLAST for obvious reasons. When my dear friend and collaborator showed me the glorified storage closet she’d been given as a drama classroom, I knew we had our work cut out for us.

Young people deserve educational spaces that feel safe and playful, especially when art-making is involved! We hoped this colorful DIY aesthetic would show students that creation is always at their fingertips - we put all the furniture on wheels so they could use it in scene study, the seating wall converted to a dressing room with the pull of a curtain to reveal mirrors and pop up tables on hinges (built by @rkeown15), and rotary telephones and wooden swords were part of the decor.

Maeli has since moved on from this job (to run the @hopewellvalleystage where I’m performing next month!) and I found out that the new teacher removed everything from the room and painted over it all. Ha! Ain’t that just the way. I hope the kids who got to experience the room the way we designed it had as much fun learning in it as we did building it!

That’s all for this one! More to come soon! Bye! by @justaspann

SO GRATEFUL to finally have professional reel footage!!!! This is a song I worked on at @actortherapynyc this summer for the first time! I loved trying to find the right blend of classical v. contemporary sound in the voice with invaluable guidance from @lmorganlee @ryanscottoliver and @lindsaymendez - still finding my way but I’m so proud of myself for throwing myself back into musical theater!

Anyway really looking forward to singing a ton this fall! Links in my bio for tix, including this Saturday performing my own music!!! Yay!! by @justaspann

some clean before and afters from the incredible @sans_soucy ‘s apartment that I worked on back in June! She was really designed for the academic year so I can’t wait to see how she takes to the fall🍂💛

Also this project was such a testament to the fact that the worst part about creating spaces is leaving them once you’re done!!! More projects to come soon, come to my show this Saturday if you’re in NYC, and stay hydrated! Ok bye! by @justaspann

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I’VE HAD A FULL SEASON OF PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES LINED UP IN A LONG TIME AND I’M SO EXCITED!!!! I’M REALLY PROUD OF MYSELF!!!

It would mean the world if you came to any one of these! I went into the @actortherapynyc summer intensive wanting so deeply to regain a sense of agency as a performer, and my god! It’s happening! My main goal was to work on new, original works with passionate teams, so to think I get to do so this soon afterwards (on a @ryanscottoliver project no less!!!!) is an absolute dream. So I hope you’ll be able to join me, first for my own music (that is seeing a live performance for the first time after being released in the pandemic), and then for some that I get to share with many many wonderful folks!! Both projects are perfect for spooky season and I guarantee will leave you with chills, shivers down your spine, and cobwebs cleared from your mind🕸️🕷️🌌

(NJ folks! I’m also performing a solo looping pedal set @hopewellvalleystage on October 3rd!! Very excited to get back into that performance idiom!) by @justaspann

So happy to spend a weekend out of the city to help transform this room! My friend gets out of the hospital next week and as part of his support crew I wanted to make sure he had a nice place to recover❤️

Including paint, this transformation cost less than $200 in materials and took 2 days. Having a space you love doesn’t have to be an outlandish extravagance - it just takes some love and a little creativity! Now back to the audition grind! See you on the next one🎨📦📚🛋️😎 by @justaspann

SO GRATEFUL for a delicious two weeks with @actortherapynyc working with @ryanscottoliver, @lindsaymendez, @lmorganlee, and many more incredible artists and educators!!!

Despite my various artistic meanderings, musical theater has always been my #1, and this intensive represented my recommitment to this art form. However “too cool” I’ve tried to be, however many auxiliary skills I’ve amassed, there’s no escaping the fact that I would die tomorrow to give Sondheim 10 more good years. Heck, even 5.

However, since that opportunity isn’t likely to come to pass without a higher level of witchcraft than I currently possess, I will settle for joining the force of incredibly hardworking actors showing up for themselves and for the sake of life-changing storytelling day in and day out. Feeling incredibly inspired to get down to work and can’t wait to share the fruits of my labor❤️ by @justaspann

digging out of my posting backlog to share how unbelievably glamorous I looked on my sister’s bachelorette. Montana is sooooo chic. Sometimes u just need to float on a river with your girls. Even better if it’s the Yellowstone but store bought is fine. My sister and I are very different but we find commonality in things like Moose Bride (see slide 6). Grateful! by @justaspann

@sans_soucy’s apartment!!!!!

I am so proud to share this one!!! 6 weeks of blood, sweat, and gin and tonics (generously provided by the client) to bring this dark academic bachelor pad (read: speakeasy?) to life!

Note: Everything you see in the “after” walkthrough (besides the bedding and kitchen cabinet hardware) is pre-owned. I am so proud to have sustainability at the center of my practice, both from an economic perspective and a design one. There were so many incredible surprises while sourcing for this project! Can you guess my favorite? by @justaspann

Having any show cancelled is a gut punch, but we’re trying to turn it around! NYC come through - any venues wanna host an insane evening of mind bending vocals and crazy rich textures?

So grateful for my incredible collaborators @scoyoh @deckerbrother504 and @deckerbrother510 who believe in this music, and for anyone who has reached out to share that this music has touched them❤️

Ultimately we’ll get to perform in NJ in October, but I would love to keep our momentum going - any leads are appreciated! by @justaspann

*POSTPONED TO OCTOBER 16* thank you all for understanding - we can’t wait to celebrate this project in the fall.

Be the first to hear this brave new music LIVE at the Stage.🖤

sp(inner)ace, the debut album by @justaspann and @scoyoh, is the story of a spider who weaves her web between the stars.
