Do yous believe in mermaaaaaids? I doooo!🧜‍♀️

Welcome to Myth of the Month, a video series where we take a little dive into a piece of Celtic mythology. This month we’re talking about the merrow. Merrows are the Celtic equivalent of merfolk and have been referenced in popular culture — all the way from Dungeons & Dragons to Magic: the Gathering (Merrow 5e and the Lorwyn Merrow respectively).

But just what is it about the stories of merrows that are so interesting? Well, there is a widespread and deeply rooted correlation between stories of merfolk and how they interacted with humans. These were typically about luring us (trickable) humans into the sea or, conversely, merfolk pursuing love even if it’s on land!

Tell us your favorite “mer-story” in the comments. Have you found any other cool correlations between tales? by @justdaithi

@polaroid pictures I took featuring water! Physical memories of something data centres are trying to destroy!

I was so happy to see a company who's focus is creativity and capturing the world take such a stand against AI. I don't know many of their other sustainability practices but I enjoyed the post.

If it wasn't clear from this post. Fuck AI! Go outside and make physical memories, draw pictures, take film photo, disposable or better yet just remember the experience! by @justdaithi

Something I love about physical media is the physical memory of it all. Keeping pictures of everyone and reminiscing over everything. It's become a pretty regular meditative experience.

I would like to keep capturing my life like this, I think I'm pretty lucky to have the people I have in my life and having these really makes that clear to me.

Finally posting on the grid about it but I started a Substack back in January and if you enjoyed my Ernest comics then you might enjoy the little things I write about infrequently.

This isn't anything I'm trying to monetise or see as work or see as very important really they're just thoughts, ideas, personal essays and poetry that I want to share.

Link in my bio for it. Enjoy
Earnestly,

Upsettingly Ernest Vol 5. The Flame:

Sometimes we hold onto something because it feels good, even when it also hurts us. Sometimes we prioritise the wrong thing and let it feed off of us. A passion, a love, a career or a goal. Many things are aflame right now, give yourself space, take a step back and see, is it taking you with it or keeping you warm?

Substack personal essay coming soon.

A friend recently asked me to send her a self portrait. I haven't drawn one since May of last year so I made a new one where I keep things a little messy and fun. As @gregorpituch used to always say "These bags are Prada" 😅
