Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hi today! 😘 Turns out my DIY 3ft aluminum rod display rack worked pretty well at @chicagozinefest 😌 A little wiggly, but I might experiment with a better way to secure it with the desk clamps. The 1/4 inch rods were sturdy enough for this 3ft setup, but I think 3/8 inch rods would be a better choice for anything bigger.

Big thanks to @chicagotoollibrary for helping me cut the rods at their Repair Fair! 🛠️

After a couple of zine fests, I made a “Well-Traveled Garlic Chive” 2.0! More vibrant colors and more content. 🌱

“Well-Traveled Garlic Chive” tells the story of how garlic chives traveled from China to the Americas, and how other veggies mixed them up with regular chives or green onions, kind of like how people mix up different Asian identities.

On the back, this 2.0 version includes a guide to “What’s the difference between garlic chives, chives, green onions, bunching onions, leeks, wild leeks, and garlic?”

Hopefully, readers of all ages can walk away knowing a little more about the Garlic Chives and their Allium family. 🌱

Last month, I made a zine called “Well-Traveled Garlic Chive.” It’s about how garlic chives traveled from China to the Americas, and how other veggies mixed them up with regular chives or green onions, kind of like how people mix up different Asian identities.

So after making the zine, I made this poster with information about different kinds of Allium plants: their English, Chinese, and Latin names, as well as their flowers and leaf shapes.

Next time you see them at a supermarket or eat them at a restaurant here in America, maybe you’ll know them a little better, and enjoy them even more! 🌱

PS. Right after I finished drawing the poster, I spotted garlic chive flowers at @mpcgardenchicago ! by @justdashuang
