Wasn’t gonna go fishing but my son hit me up and said he was off work and on summer break from school and wanted to go and when your kid asks you to go fishing, you take them fishing! Would not have caught this monster if it wasn’t for him! 21 inch largie swiped at it on the first retrieve but missed it, I cast again and it followed it in from the depths and absolutely smoked the glide bait about 5 feet from me. Sickest eat ever and took me for a ride. Couldn’t find my scale and wanted to get her back in the water but she was every bit of 6 lbs. What a way to start off the summer eh? by @justintofishin

Last night all of the years of kayaking, canoeing, rafting and hiking for miles, braving crazy storms, heat and snow, crawling on crazy riprap and giant rocks, fishing from 9° to 100°, all of the nights staying out sometimes until the sun came up, all of the gas money spent and the hours of driving to literally three different corners of the state (and to other states), sleeping in the truck and all the reading of articles, going to seminars, watching endless hours of YouTube videos trying to learn anything I could just to feed this insane obsession to catch a dirty 30 walleye finally paid off. So stoked @mousebonesx has been with me for my two biggest walleyes now, glad we got to experience those fish together Homie it means a lot! Thanks for all the help getting her to swim away strong. We didn’t get a weight on her because we wanted to get her back in the water asap to get ready to go drop her eggs and spread those behemoth genes back into the water but we both guessed about 13 pounds, maybe more. She was full of eggs and probably stocker trout. That spooky pre spawn goth perch will haunt my dreams for the rest of my life. Well lol. This little lady was in need of a home and word got to me from family and disc golf friends. Everything within me said no. But the homie Kevin talked me into driving south to at least meet her. As soon as I got out of the truck, she was barking and jumping around and Kevin let her off the leash and she came flying over to me doing 360 spins and slamming her butt into my leg and giving me kisses and that was that. She is incredibly sweet with my niece and every person and dog she has met. She has some gnarly skin issues that we are gonna work on, but she’s already house trained, crate trained listens to commands to sit and is extremely obedient off leash. I’m already dreading the thought of saying goodbye to her someday years from now but in the meantime, we will make some amazing memories. Welcome to the family Luna! 🐶 by @justintofishin

Unbelievably slow night of fishing last night but my only fish was a nice smallie on the wake Walker and got a crazy shot of the Milky Way so it all evens out. Hoping for fall to hurry up and get here and then stick around longer than usual this year. by @justintofishin

This morning we had to do the hardest thing imaginable and end the suffering of our sweet baby Kona. My brother found her running up east pikes peak ave in a blizzard somewhere around 2014. Collar and leash but no name tag, wasn’t chipped. I took her in and we tried to find her owner for months. She destroyed everything inside and outside of my house. Couches, patio furniture, dining room chairs, hats, shoes, pens, nightlights lol. Initially I thought it was too much to handle and tried to re-home her. I’m glad that didn’t pan out. She became my daily Dutch bros trip companion, came out on the boat with me, went on hikes, went on my son’s kayak, she had an incredible life and was spoiled beyond belief with treats and love from every person she met. Watching her health deteriorate rapidly as she experienced kidney failure has been a hell that I don’t wish on my worst enemy. I tried everything I could to turn her health around but best estimates from the vet she was between 12-14 years old. I feel like I’ve been stabbed in the heart. My house is an empty tomb now with reminders of her everywhere and I just miss my best friend. 12 years isn’t nearly long enough with a creature that we love so deeply and who loves us unconditionally and more purely than any human love we will ever find. I hope Jäger was waiting for you in heaven and I hope you both come find me the second my time comes. I love you so much and thank you for loving me Kona. I will try to live a life full of adventure in your honor and touch grass as often as possible. Love, your dad. by @justintofishin

Absolutely crazy day off working in California today! Played the first ever official disc golf course “Oak Grove” in Pasadena in the morning then drove back towards the hotel and played the 2nd official disc golf course ever “La Mirada”! I made the absolute craziest birdie shot of my life forehand, downhill, through the trees with a major water hazard next to the basket! I am exhausted and now we have a full week ahead of us of work but what a blessing to be able to travel for work and make time for some fun when the working is done! taken in Oak Grove Disc Golf Course by @justintofishin

4th of July weekend 🇺🇸 caught some nice bass on the @toxicbaitssuck ABS Wade Hoggs wake bait from the yak (thanks @muskie_addicted for the pics), played disc golf on top of the world with @over_sleezy, watched some lightning from disc golf night league, saw a cute ass puppy at disc golf and drank way too much caffeine. Hope you all had a great 4th, even though we fought a war to not pay taxes and now here we are paying hella damn taxes on everything 🥴. Still love America, still grateful to live here and for the sacrifice of all the men and women who have served and died so that we can be free! by @justintofishin

It felt amazing to go home to Minnesota. I will always be grateful for Colorado in that, I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime and I would never have had my son if I hadn’t moved here in 95’ but Minnesota will always be my home. As soon as I land there every time, all sorts of emotions start bombarding me and everything feels exactly as it should, like I’m where I should be. It’s hard to explain. Fishing is the culture there. Not the madness of the city but the small towns across the state where people are kind and personable, they greet you with a smile and aren’t too busy to shoot the shit with you. It’s not like Colorado where people are getting into fist fights and shoot outs over fishing spots, because the fishing spots there are virtually endless. Boats are a dime a dozen, people still gather for meals and bonfires and cookouts and county fairs. They have statues of the fish we all are obsessed with, there’s fish on every beer ad and liquor store and taxidermy of trophy fish in random gas stations and liquor stores. I wish it wasn’t so far away and sure hope it’s not another 10 years before I can visit again. I love you Minnesota. taken in Isle, Minnesota by @justintofishin
