AKWASAK.

Watching all of her tattoos come together across her back mainly done by Black tattoo artists truly warmed my heart. As a tattoo artist myself, it felt deeply meaningful, like something important was being accomplished.

You should see the rest of her body: Nicole is a living canvas of Black tattoo expertise, carrying countless stories within her skin.

It’s an honor to add my touch to your back. Thank you, Nicole, for trusting us to mark your body with new adornments. by @justpigment

Akwasak Full Arm

Thank you for trusting me with your skin, your stories, and a piece of your identity.
Day after day, I find myself increasingly grateful for everyone who chooses to be part of this journey.

I never imagined that the little shy Caribbean boy I once was would one day find a way to express his love for these islands through one of his greatest passions: tattooing.

Akwasak is more than a tattoo style. It’s an ongoing exploration of our Caribbean heritage, a way of reconnecting with our history and giving new life to patterns that deserve to be remembered.

One arm at a time, one story at a time.

We’re not just creating tattoos. We’re creating history. by @justpigment

Akwasak is the way to go if you’re looking for something traditional, deeply rooted in Caribbean identity.

Because the Caribbean has never had just one face. We can be African, Asian, European, Indigenous, or a combination of all these identities at once.

I understand how challenging it can be to find ways to honour all these different cultural influences without appropriating or misrepresenting them.

But I think we sometimes forget something fundamental about the Caribbean: what has allowed us to endure, evolve and thrive for centuries is precisely our ability to coexist, exchange and blend.

Look at our food, our music, our languages, our art forms. They all tell stories of different worlds meeting, influencing one another and creating something entirely new.

Akwasak is born from that very idea. Not from claiming one identity over another, but from embracing the complexity of what it means to be Caribbean. by @justpigment

Amazigh people … descents .. I hope that you always feel proud about your ancestral tattoo traditions 🙏🏾😭 never be ashamed of them. Never be ashamed of who were there before you. YOU ARE MEANINGFUL AND RESILIENT. Tattoos are your lineage as well. Don’t let no one tell you the contrary. Just look at your grandma. Think deeply ! by @justpigment

Ornamental Torso Freehand based on Reunion Island “Dantel a KAZ” ornamental visual heritage.

My client was so resilient throughout the freehand, the tattoo itself and her knowledge about her island is unmatched. More than a tattoo this was an exchange of energy, of history and black love.
