100km. One day. One finish.

For a long time, I’ve been chasing the goal of finishing a 100km race stronger, feeling good, and most importantly, finishing on the same day I started. Until UTA100, that had never happened.

The night before the race was far from ideal. I was nervous, my stomach felt off, and sleep barely happened. If you had asked me back in January whether I’d be standing on the start line of this race with the hip injury I was dealing with, I would have said absolutely not.

Yet somehow, everything came together.

From the first climb to the final descent, I ran with no hip pain, no cramps, and no major discomfort. For 100 kilometres, I was able to simply enjoy the process, trust my training, and keep moving forward.

A huge shoutout to my wife for crewing me. It was her first time crewing a race and the first time I’ve ever had someone support me in that role. Knowing she was there at every checkpoint made a massive difference, and I honestly couldn’t have done it without her. ❤️

15:42:31 later, I crossed the finish line. Not only did I finish, but I finished on the same day I started.

Some goals take years to achieve. Some victories mean more because of the setbacks that came before them.

Grateful. Proud. Hungry for what’s next.

Big month for the craft. I’ve officially leveled up to Silver Coach and Level 2 Recreational Running status with Athletics Australia.
For my athletes at Justrunning, this means more than just badges. It means sharper periodization, deeper data analysis, and elite S&C protocols designed to get you to the finish line—and the podium—without the injury cycles.
I’m combining these new technical standards with my lived experience as a UTMB finisher to build the most resilient runners in the scene.
Opening a few coaching spots for the 2026 season. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start performing, shoot me a DM.

@sydney_marathon was a dream run. I went in thinking of a sub 3:10 target. Meeting and warming up with @kar.anand pre-race maybe rubbed off some of his speed on me. The first 10k was quicker than my plan as always and I was feeling good but also coach @justvinayk words echoed in my mind, reminding me that the marathon will punish you if you burnout early. The atmosphere and the sights energised me and I couldn’t help but continue at the same pace, clocking a 1:27:46 half. I was smiling widely when I saw that on my watch and thought coach will be proud but also worried (maybe). At this point i had caught onto the 3:05 pacing group and was feeling so great and so focused. I decided to push and thought that if I am punished by the marathon, I ll still end up at my target. By the 30th Km, I had gone past the pacer and decided to keep steady at 4:15ish pace for the remaining 12k. Cramps hit at 39 and I stopped for a water break for about 20 seconds. The guy who handed me water said to me, “The pain will be worth it, go on mate!” and that just drove me to start running again. At 40th km, I got the best surprise of my life - My brother cheering for me. He found me in a crowd of 35,000 runners. We hugged and that was it - I was energised and continued on with all I had, forgetting the cramps and as I saw the Opera House & the finish line, with my arms wide open, crossed in 3:00:46 with so much joy!

It was a good day on the road & I hope to better this. All the training & sacrifices came to fruition. @justvinayk @_akshata_koli_ @shubhangijoshi22 @coach_rangerr @ritikapatel_sportsphysio and my parents were my backbone through the training block. Intense training runs with one of my favourite runners @farheenfirdose solidified my speed.

Some years ago, I sat across the table with a therapist & accepted that I had a drinking problem. When I crossed the finish line at Sydney Marathon, I felt healed. Running saved my life & with gratitude, I continue on this journey to the next one.

P.S. Also sporting my favourite running wear @goathlos in the race and all through the training block. Best running apparel in the world!

Race recap – what went well, what didn’t, and what I could do better. Keeping it real:

What went well:
	1.	Didn’t suffer as much as I thought I would
	2.	Calf held up fine
	3.	Finished way better than expected – 8th in a stacked category

What went wrong:
	1.	Overdid the sugar water, didn’t carry plain water. Got taste fatigue, delayed fueling
	2.	Wore the wrong shoes (my favorite ones, oops). Not made for this terrain
	3.	Didn’t check the elevation profile. Had no idea how many climbs were coming
	4.	Spent too long mixing powders and filling bottles at the aid station
	5.	Took a wrong turn twice – once early on, once near the end

What I’ll improve:
	1.	Do more vertical training – get better at climbing
	2.	Always carry some plain water
	3.	Pick shoes based on terrain, not mood
	4.	Stay focused. Don’t zone out, look for trail markers
	5.	Study the course elevation – know when to push, when to hold back
	6.	Pre-pack the powder, save time at aid stations

That’s the breakdown. On to the next. by @justrunning_1

A little over a month ago, I signed up for Mawla Ghaati 25K without knowing what I was getting into — the terrain, the elevation, the suffering.

After a tough hilly half marathon that shook my confidence, I honestly wasn’t sure I’d make it to the start line, let alone the finish. Technical trails and climbs have never been my strength. I doubted myself. A lot.

But my coach simply said, “Just chase the vertical, forget the pace.”
So I did.

There were tough weekends, bruised knees, and some brutal climbs. But somewhere along the way, I started enjoying the grind — the quiet, the suffering, the slow strength. I call it sweet suffering now.

Mawla Ghaati was raw, wild, and beautiful. And I could enjoy it only because of the work put in, the faith my coach @justvinayk had in me, and the amazing trail buddies (@the_firemount @upasaniraghav ) who taught me something on every outing.

**Vagamon ULTrail 2025**
🏆 **37K | 1200m+ Elevation | 3:52:39 | Winner** 🏆

Raced here thrice, won twice in two categories.

@vagamonultrail has always been an amazing way to kick off the year. The changing terrain and unpredictable weather make it an exciting and challenging race every time.

After a disappointing performance at Chiang Mai in December, I wanted to push myself. I worked on improving and stepped onto the start line with confidence. A five-minute delayed start didn’t faze me, but as soon as we took off, two runners sprinted ahead like the wind. I stuck to my own pace and soon found myself running alongside @the_firemount . Together, we caught up to the front runners and pushed ahead.

Skipping the first aid station, we ran through villages and open meadows before reaching the second station, where I quickly filled my handheld flask. A gel at 14K gave me the push I needed to surge ahead, overtaking Prasanna as we entered the tea estates with steep downhills and narrow trails. At the next aid station, I had to wait as they cut open brand-new water cans—but that was enough. I marched on, counting down the kilometers.

A few adorable dogs sprinted past me, while some startled cows seemed unsure of my presence. Thankfully, no attacks! 🥶 As the last uphill approached at 35K, I reminded myself: “Come on, Vinay, you haven’t seen the finish line yet—push harder!”

Through the village and over broken roads, I finally crossed the finish line with pure joy and satisfaction. A strong effort, and a moment to celebrate. I rang the bell with happiness.

**Race Gear:** Merrell MTL Skylong 2
**Race Nutrition:** 3 @maurten_official gels | 1 @drinklmnt | 250ml soft flask for aid stations only
