This one’s for you MOM. I fulfilled your last wish Amma. I finished the race which you encouraged me to go run it when I got the lottery draw before your passed away. I will never get over the reality that’s you’re not with me. But will always carry your thoughts with me wherever I go. Love you MOM

Best part about Vietnam trip/race?

The friends❣️. Staying far away from home and the ppl I used to run with alongside made it more special. Thank you for making it a memorable one🙏🏽

Vietnam Mountain Marathon 🇻🇳 | 50K

Laced up for the second race in the span of two weeks of back-to-back racing.

I recovered fairly well after Hounslow Marathon. Thankfully, I had booked a sports massage two days after the race, which really helped with the recovery.

New location, new mountains, and plenty of travel. After days of huge rainfall in Vietnam, the trails had turned into a complete slush and mud feast. I managed to run a few kilometres around Sa Pa before the race, and after seeing the amount of rain coming down, I knew I couldn’t race the way I had originally expected.

The plan changed. Get to the start, run where it was possible, manage the conditions and, most importantly, get to the finish.

And to our surprise, there was no rain during our race! But the humidity definitely took things up a notch, and I could feel it in every step.

The aid station volunteers were absolute legends. They helped every time, even with the language barrier, and their energy made a huge difference out there.

Then there were the mountains. Beautiful views, amazing trails and some seriously fun terrain. I could have enjoyed it even more with better weather, but honestly, I have no regrets.

I loved everything about this race and the experience. Sometimes the conditions don’t go according to plan, and that’s exactly what makes the adventure memorable.

Thank you @paceathletic & @bluemtnsrunningco for getting the gear right for the race.

Hounslow Marathon 🏃🏽‍♂️

Laced up for the first of two weeks of back-to-back racing at @hounslow_classic by @singletrack_events.

My first race post-UTA, and I had a really good preparation for this one. I was taking it as a long training run/race before the big one at Sa Pa, Vietnam.

The fellow runners and amazing volunteers made this a lot more fun and enjoyable, even with the scorching heat. I raced at only around 80% effort, never trying to exceed that, and it paid off 🙌🏼

Thank you @paceathletic & @bluemtnsrunningco for getting the gear right for the race.

And as always, my biggest support for every adventure, my wife. Thank you @pallavik.v ❤️

Distance: 43.7 km | 2,500 m elevation gain

And thus.. I'm an Ultra runner with this 50k @vietnammountainmarathon @worldtrailmajors

Close to 09:45 hours on the gruelling course to do this run with twice the distance, time and elevation (not to forget the 2500+ calories consumed) than I had ever done before on any trail run..

but I'm ecstatic about how I could focus for that long..

and push on till the very end to finish well within my target time.

The ever changing landscape kept me going. Pictures could barely show the beauty of this course...

or the difficulty. The constant muck and mud that made running on even flat surfaces impossible.

but then I had company. Ironically, I registered for this race 2 days after I said no full marathon this year since it requires a lot of training.

Cz my friends' idea of a vacation is absurd.

Starting with the expo, the bib collection, and making new friends..

..to the end of the race with the other @bengalurubenneboys , the experience was ineffable.

they say running is a solo sport. But that would be doing injustice to the people who make it possible. Even a spark needs air to burn.

@justvinayk I'm short of words to express the gratitude I feel for you. It was only a few months I had started running trails when I registered for this. This wouldn't have been possible without you. Thanks for having faith in me and nurturing my dream, but more importantly keeping me grounded in reality about everything from training to the race finish line.

@upasaniraghav @tuhina_chatterjj the miles would have been longer and boring without you two. @shamikkanaiya
@farheenfirdose, the speed goats.. all the speed sessions paid off on the last few kms pf downhill roads

@the_firemount @jelly.legs.media @almostvagabond @akhilcaravind thanks for the support and all the incredible tips.

-

Grateful to all the incredible volunteers, locals and the tribals around Sa Pa who lend their suport and land to allow an experience like this.

100km. One day. One finish.

For a long time, I’ve been chasing the goal of finishing a 100km race stronger, feeling good, and most importantly, finishing on the same day I started. Until UTA100, that had never happened.

The night before the race was far from ideal. I was nervous, my stomach felt off, and sleep barely happened. If you had asked me back in January whether I’d be standing on the start line of this race with the hip injury I was dealing with, I would have said absolutely not.

Yet somehow, everything came together.

From the first climb to the final descent, I ran with no hip pain, no cramps, and no major discomfort. For 100 kilometres, I was able to simply enjoy the process, trust my training, and keep moving forward.

A huge shoutout to my wife for crewing me. It was her first time crewing a race and the first time I’ve ever had someone support me in that role. Knowing she was there at every checkpoint made a massive difference, and I honestly couldn’t have done it without her. ❤️

15:42:31 later, I crossed the finish line. Not only did I finish, but I finished on the same day I started.

Some goals take years to achieve. Some victories mean more because of the setbacks that came before them.

Grateful. Proud. Hungry for what’s next.

One week ago, we had an unforgettable weekend in the Blue Mountains. Racing at @ultratrailaustralia , sharing trails with elite athletes, and finally meeting the familiar voice behind so many trail racing memories, @martingaff

Still trying to process it all and piece together what just happened. Moments like these remind me how lucky we are to live so close to these mountains and line up alongside some of the best trail runners in the sport.

Tired legs, full heart, already wanting more. 🏔️ taken in Ultra-Trail Australia By UTMB by @justvinayk

UTA 100. The memorable 100km. The distance I been chasing to be better at, and it all came through with the right mindset and awesome crew by my wife @pallavik.v . I’m happy with the result and the effort I put in to come back from a DNF at Ultra Trail Kosciusko 100k, and hip injury in Jan.

Thank you to everyone who cheered me and followed me on their screens🙏🏽 taken in Ultra-Trail Australia By UTMB by @justvinayk
