Chili night! This version is based on one I’ve had a few times, invented by a famous trombonist—it used some of the leftover Guinness from Nigella’s chocolate stout cake and also the chocolate from yesterday’s cookies!

They’re a little extra dark on the bottom but otherwise I have no reason to complain!

All singers should be lucky enough to work with a collaborator like @drvoelker . Even though we were both tired, busy, and overwhelmed in the lead-up to this recital at UNG, we were able to turn in a strong and polished performance. We agreed that this recital was fueled by friendship and good vibes!

I needed to make something for dinner tonight that would carry me through at least a couple of days of lunches, so mujaddara it is! Basmati rice (from a bag that I am FINALLY going to finish soon!), green lentils, caramelized onions, a little parsley and a little hot sauce, just ‘cause.

Recipe comes from a cookbook my mom gave me once called Vegan Casseroles, but obviously it does not originate there. Looking forward to lunch (if/when I have time for it this week…?)!

I’ve never really done a bake-along with #GreatBritishBakeOff, but the new season started last night and I was inspired to try Nigella Lawson’s chocolate Guinness cake with cream cheese frosting. Luckily I had a dinner party to go to so I could share it with friends!

Oddly enough given Nigella’s feedback to the bakers this week, this recipe as written has no salt. I added a teaspoon—not sure if it changed anything but this cake is delicious!
