Still floating after Imagine!

Playing a late night set in the yoga barn was so much fun, and hearing @reis.rachael improvise her vocals over the top of it was magic - an example of the kind of moments that surprise and delight! Thanks @lgspmusic for the B2B set.

Thank you @holistik.living for inviting me into this beautiful community - you are a magic maker, energy bringer, nurturer, and welcoming presence. You are amazing!!

Thank you to the Imagine crew including Darin, Jamie and Paul for all that you did behind the scenes to make sure this festival was safe, fun inclusive, and nourishing.

And @doebayresort ! What a magical, mystical, gorgeous piece of land. You can feel it the second you arrive.

My kids came with me and it was their first festival ever. Watching them so joyful, so free, so safe meant we could all enjoy ourselves in different ways including @tuzaar and I with some quality time. My kid got her first flow toy, and they enjoyed the family friendly activites and crafts. Thank you to everyone who made that possible for our little family.

So many beautiful musicians sharing their gifts, so many lovely humans. We made new friends, found old ones, and got to just be together in nature and art and community. Precious, precious time!

Overflowing with gratitude 💙❤️💜💛💚

Still buzzing from Friday!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to dance for a good cause.

Abbey Arts is such a beautiful room — those floors, that space, everyone dancing and letting go. Played world music, classic house, tonnes of good stuff. Smooth night from start to finish!

@michelemyers we did it!

And everyone who showed up or donated, thank you sooo much!!

That money goes to family and youth arts programs. A beautiful start to the weekend!

💙

This Friday night 9/25 you’re invited to Groove Power! A 21+ dance party benefit for Abbey Arts in their Great Hall.

Doors 7:30pm
DJ Michele Myers 8pm-10
Jyoti B Fly 10-12
Tickets in bio and on Humanitix

About the Music:
Jyoti:
I love to play funk, house and disco beats incorporating world sounds artists of the global majority into cutting edge beats and sounds. Expect to hear an eclectic multi-format set bringing together deep and Afro-Latin house with bass, breaks, and funk. I will be bringing some fun remixes and throwbacks for a good dose of nostalgia as well as some new high energy pop! Bring your dancing shoes and friends!

Michele:
I love warm, soulful and propulsive music. A mix of classics and newer tracks. Each song is a little faster than the last. My choice of artists and songs is intentional. I consider music history and lyrics. Bringing you the best energy and artistry I can find.

You’ll hear: beats, indie, pop, funk, Latin and more.

My main DJ talent is responding to what dancers like and creating a comfortable and energetic place to let go. I’m bringing my super flattering and fun blue/purple lights as well. Ready to dance all night with you. So excited!

Note from Jyoti & Michele:
We’re bringing all of us to the Abbey’s Great Hall this Friday night to dance in a beautiful place for a good cause.
All proceeds go to Abbey Arts family and youth pay-what-you-can programs. Your tickets and celebrations for this night power learning and the arts!
💙❤️💜💛💚

Two DJs, one dance floor, and a very good cause.

Michele Myers is best known for her Friday Night Dance Party show on KEXP and more than two decades hosting and producing there, and she brings a bold mix of electronic, indie, soulful and global sounds, weaving new music with vintage sweet spots and hidden gems.

Jyoti B.Fly hosts Wo’Pop on KEXP and holds a residency at Caravan Seattle, bringing bouncy bassy beats layered with world and diasporic instruments, Afro and Latin rhythms running through deep lush grooves. Between us that is over four decades behind the decks, and one shared belief that a dance floor should feel warm, welcoming and safe enough to actually let go.

We are doing this at Fremont Abbey Great Hall because it is one of the best rooms in Seattle to dance in and because their youth arts programs deserve it. Every single ticket funds pay-what-you-can access to film, dance, music, art, theater and life skills programming for families of all incomes.

Bring the love and your crew to join this one of a kind dance space where we’ll merge lights, sound and the best music, and power arts access for all.

Friday, September 25th, 7pm to midnight. Tickets in bio. 🪷⚡️

I’m excited to be part of Imagine Festival this September 11-13 on beautiful Orcas Island. I’ve heard such amazing things about this family friendly, community rooted festival, set against the beauty of The San Juan Islands - beloved by so many in our community. I am really looking forward to being part of it this year. Won’t you join us?

Come find me playing B2B with my friend and fellow Cancer - @lgspmusic in the Yoga Studio on Friday night at 10:15PM. 🪷⚡️☀️

Thanks @imagineorcasisland for inviting me to join!

So proud of my friend @liaaprile who wrote a brilliant play called A Terrible Woman about Charlotte Cushman, a 19th century American actress widely considered the greatest of her era, openly queer during a time when the risks were so high! It’s set backstage within the context of Shakespearean performance, a visit by then-President Abraham Lincoln, and the tumult of public judgement and internal struggle against the backdrop of a divided country.

I found the reading of the play to be funny, poetic, and deeply relevant to this moment.

A conversation between a politician and an artist, where the artist, of course, is the one who knows how to find meaning when everything around us is breaking down.

Grateful to @artlovesalon for hosing this reading in their stunning space downtown — and we need this story on the biggest stages possible!

Who can help us get this play to Broadway? 🎭
