Fall race season is in full swing and the calendar is filling up fast. We love seeing crews meeting up before our usual 7am start to log the extra miles together, whether you’re building toward a marathon, a half, or just chasing a new PR. We also tried our first go with Playlist Pacers this weekend, hope it added a little extra pep to your pace.

Big thanks to John K and Tiffany for covering water duty this weekend, your Hydration Heroes keeping everyone going out there. taken in Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers by @k2runs

May is ALS Awareness Month. If you’ve known me for the last couple years then you know about my friend Troy Pruett @twpru and our Purple Peanut Adventures. Now, you have the opportunity to read about Troy’s running career when he was a fully abled, although perhaps always a little on the crazy side, runner through his experience as a differently abled athlete.
His story goes from being a newbie to an accomplished long distance runner to crushed dreams and back to a tenacious pursuit of his goals.
Learn about the importance of being an advocate for yourself and others - especially our military veterans who are FAR more likely to develop ALS than the general population.
If Troy’s story moves you, please consider making a donation to @als
#findacure. If you want the sport of running to be accessible to all people, consider a donation to @achilles_international also.
Depending on your Amazon membership, the book is either free or only $1.99 leaving you more money to donate. 😃 💜 🥜

Shout out to Troy for letting me take the Purple Peanut out for a test run this morning and a big thanks to Martin for helping me make adjustments until everything felt right.

I’m excited for Troy to get his sixth ST⭐️R and 98th marathon (or beyond) at the Tokyo Marathon next week.

Ready to rock n’ ROLL!

It was a great morning for Team Purple Peanut. We FINALLY had some cooler weather and Mary Keeffe was initiated as part of the Pod Squad! 💜 She did so awesome! She was brave (it’s a pretty scary task, at first), strong and a quick learner. She even taught each of us a few tricks today.

Hiking in Cococino National Forest (to Devil’s Bridge) and San Tan Mountain Regional Park (Dynamite, San Tan and Goldmine trails) in Arizona. Bonuses: besides being beautiful and the good weather, I was with fun friends and Devil’s Bridge was a bucket list hike for one of them. Mission accomplished!

A fun afternoon of volunteering for the Women's Division of the Grapevine Chamber at GrapeFest (where everyone else spent their time drinking wine). I sold bottles of water with Carol, who was the sweetest woman. 🩷
If you’re at the festival, be sure to stay hydrated! Water sold in the People’s Choice tent supports local school children and senior citizens so drink up!🚰

My favorite brewery visits and craft beers from my Summer 2023 Minnesota Brewery Tour.
🍺 I didn’t think it was possible to make a better cream ale than @castledangerbrewer, but @10kbrewing did it, in my humble opinion!
🚜 The forever view and that tractor @north20brewing can’t be beat. Why do I 💛🚜?
🌸 The unique beer garden and gorgeous flowers @stpaulbrewing are not to be missed.
🍊 I really like citrus beers. The Blood Orange Ale @townhalltap was an immediate favorite! The @redcowmn version was a close second and the service (s/o to Kelly) was stellar.
😃 The service @lupine_brewing was fantastically friendly.
⚾️ The three beers from @thirdstreetbrewhouse were enjoyed during many baseball games. They were perfect for the @mbastate2023 tournament @dasselcokatosaints ballpark and at home on the deck listening to the @twins play.
🚲 The @gambit_brewing_company Nordic Blonde would probably be tasty anytime, but it was really refreshing mid-bike ride around the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes.

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting three Minnesota wineries this summer: Willow Tree in Ham Lake, @fountainhillwinery in Delano and @crowriverwinery in Hutchinson. Each had beautiful grounds, friendly service and a nice selection of wines. Many, but certainly not all, the wines are on the sweet side. Both Fountain Hill and Crow River also, brilliantly, serve MN craft beers and I think ciders.

Adventures with Abby took us westward to Lake Maria State Park or as we proclaimed, the Mosquito Capital of North America!
The park features a variety of forests, ponds, prairie grasslands and marshes along with kettle and kame topography. Every trail we took was accurately described as hilly. We got in a lot of steps because if you stopped moving, the vampires of the marsh found you - even if you were in the woods!
