Behind every K9 veteran is a story of courage and loyalty. 🇺🇸

This K9 Veterans Day we are proud to launch Hurricane Bites in honor of K9 Hurricane and the mission he inspired.

Hurricane is one of the fortunate few that has had the opportunity to share his story with the world. However, the truth is that thousands of police and military K9s risk their lives and bodies year after year. They all have a story. They all deserve recognition. And they all should have quality care in retirement.

This is the “why” behind K9 Hurricane’s Heroes. To amplify their heroism and serve the K9s who so selflessly served us. Profits from this treat will go towards veterinary care for the retired K9 Heroes we support and will give us the ability to expand our impact.

Huge shout to Kinetic Performance Dog Food for helping us bring this project to life.

50 YEARS OF SECRET SERVICE K9 🇺🇸

The U.S. Secret Service canine program began in 1976. Fifty years later, K9 teams remain part of the agency’s protective mission.

Working Dog Magazine has some history here, too. We launched on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017, and Issue 1 opened at the White House with our feature on the Secret Service canine program, including K9 Hurricane and his handler, Marshall.

Fifty years for them. Nearly ten for us. Worth pulling from the archive.

@pawsofhonor 8th Annual Golf Tournament took place this past Monday, September 21st at Trump National Golf Course in Virginia.

The tournament was sold out with 144 players and the event raised $164k!

All proceeds go to Paws of Honor’s Mission: Funding veterinary care for retired military and law enforcement working dogs. There is no retirement/care for K9s after they retire, and often the handler must shoulder this burden. Paws of Honor exists to honor the heroes at both ends of the leash, ensuring the bond is preserved and these hero dogs can thrive after service.

The day consisted of a captain’s choice golf tournament, with various activities at several different holes, including the opportunity to win a Lexus from @pohankaautogroup if golfers get a hole in one at a particular hole.

Paws of Honor is grateful to the amazing 32 sponsors of the tournament including @k9hurricane .

Paws of Honor was founded in 2015 and currently serves 670 active retired dogs in 46 states. We currently have 300 on the waitlist. Since its founding, more than 1150 dogs have been served, and Paws of Honor has paid over $9 million in vet bills.

HR 3144 - Honoring our K9 Heroes Act would significantly help move these 300 dogs off the waiting list.

For more information or to make donations to support this program, please visit pawsofhonor.org

And of course a huge thank you to @realemilycompagno for being such an amazing ambassador to these four legged heroes.
