We added another epic chapter to Blaine’s and Henrene’s love story in Kainaliu with a #camping #trip. It was very special for me to share this beautiful wahi pana with @Heenzbobeenz #Keaweokapohoku and #Hilinaikamahinahou for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Sorry daddy didn’t close the tent door on the first night and the mosquitos had an Ito buffet.
The ‘āina blessed us with rain.
Aunty Lori blessed us with their ‘ohana property.
Kamehameha Class of 1972 blessed us by showing the younger generations how to aloha your classmates.

Blaine Whitney Ito was born on June, 2, 1954 to mother, Jenny Bak, and father, Hiroshi Ito. Blaine and his parents resided in Hailimaile, Maui, with older brother, Kyle, and younger sisters, Joey, Kathy, and Rebecca. Blaine spent his childhood on Maui, notably Ma‘alaea Boat Harbor, where he and his older brother would fish from the docks while his dad went fishing on a boat. He attended Kamehameha Schools Kapālama (KSk) as a boarding student and graduated in 1972, He married his high school sweetheart, Henrene Yoong Lin Kong in 1975. His father in-law, Henry Kong, introduced Blaine to his life-long career – land surverying. Blaine and Henrene planted their family roots in Pāpa‘ikou, Hilo. On Moku O Keawe, they raised three sons, and he lovingly worked, played, and drank with his boys till his dying day. Blaine, 71, passed from a stroke on February 1, 2026 on O‘ahu. He is survived by wife, Henrene; sons Daniel, Kaina, and Isaac; granddaughter, Hiilina‘i Kamahinahou Eve Ito; and grandson, Keaweokapōhoku Michael Ito.

Blaineʻs Celebration of Life will be held at Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel at his alma matter on Saturday, August 1: visitation at 9:30 am and services at 10:30 am. taken in Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel by @ka_ito

Summer 2025 is over, but ‘Ohana Ito will always remember this as our first (and hopefully many) trips to #Japan. @heenbobeenz booked an epic vacation, and the kids garnered some nicknames in Nippon. #Keaweokapohoku a.k.a. “Saja Boy” and #Hilinakamahinahou a.k.a. “Labubu.” It was hot, for sure. It rained a historic amount in Tokyo. It was all so #oishii! by @ka_ito

What I’ll cherish the most about #Hilinaikamahinahou experience at Wesley Children’s Program was inbetween dropping off Keawe at school and before dropping her off. This #daddydaughter macaroons/dougnuts and coffee date are memories I will always remember fondly. Perhaps, a #coffeedate tradition we could carry forward as she grows up? A father can only hope. Regardless of the what future holds, I have a profound appreciation for the faculty of Wesley Children’s Program for helping make my Hili a kind, social, and bright girl. It’s crazy to see how much she’s grown from her last day at Wesley to her firsr day two years ago. The days are long, and the years short. taken in Wesley United Methodist Church by @ka_ito

A decade ago I went to the best #hotelparty of my life. It just happened to be after #makingmrsito. My wife threw us an epic hotel party for me, #keaweokapohoku and #hilinaikamahinahou for a glorious 10-year #weddinganniversarygift. I even got to surf from Bowls to Kaiser’s this morning!
