![What makes a man a man? And why does society still feel the need to decide that for us?
*Aman* tells the story of a trans man who discovers he is pregnant just before his gender-affirming surgery. It's a story that makes us pause and question some of the things we've always been taught about gender, masculinity and fatherhood.
But there's more to this story.
When trans man Kabir Maan was offered the role of Aman, he wasn't sure if he should take it. After spending years questioning society's ideas about gender and identity, he had to ask himself what it meant to portray an experience so often associated with womanhood.
He took some time to think it through. And in doing so, he came to realise that pregnancy doesn't define someone's gender. Our bodies don't tell the whole story of who we are.
That's what makes *Aman* important. It doesn't try to speak for every trans man or suggest that there's only one way to be a man. It simply tells one story, and gives us a chance to think beyond the assumptions we often take for granted.
We're proud to share that *Aman*, written and directed by Rahul Roye, won the **Short Film Award at the 70th BFI London Film Festival**, announced on 18 October 2026. The film was also selected for **TIFF 2026, Short Cuts**.
At Transmen Collective, we believe every trans man's story deserves to be heard, without having to fit into anyone else's idea of who he should be.
Because being a man isn't a checklist. And no one should have to prove their identity to the world.
We'd love to know what you think. Did Aman's story make you look at gender or masculinity differently? Tell us in the comments.

![From its world premiere at TIFF to winning Best Short Film at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, Rahul Roye’s Aman is finding its place on the international stage.
Through an intimate exploration of identity, masculinity and parenthood, the film brings underrepresented experiences into focus without offering easy answers to complex questions.
