“This entire drasha… might read like the acknowledgements section at the end of a book, but my attempt is to provide teaching on the practice of acknowledgement and gratitude. May there be lessons and also Torah in them each."

“On Yom Kippur, even Samael testifies that we Jews are collectively like the ministering angels.

Our becoming angelic is not an abstraction. It happens through what we do with our bodies and with one another. For one day, we step outside our ordinary patterns of footwear, food, posture, conflict, and guilt. We become angelic.

Let this be a turning point. Let this be a hinge. The rest of our lives—the rest of Kadima’s life—begins anew now, again.

May this angelic state not be a performance of perfection, but a practice of returning—to one another, to our values, and to the practice of reconstruction. The practice of loving repair."

Kadima High Holidays continue with Kol Nidre services this Sunday, and Yom Kippur services this coming Monday. 🕯

To those who have joined us in making these High Holidays meaningful thus far, we are so grateful for your presence. If you have yet to join us and wish to, it is not too late to register!

זָכְרֵנוּ לְחַיִּים
Zochreinu L'Chayim
Remember Us for Life 🕯

In a world marked by grief, uncertainty, and profound challenges, the High Holidays call us back to one another. They ask us to choose life: to show up, to reflect, to reconnect, and to renew our sense of purpose and possibility.

We need not arrive fully repaired or with every question resolved. No. We come together because the work of living, healing, and becoming is communal work and it is ongoing. In this season of teshuvah, we also practice tokhecha: the sacred work of telling difficult truths with love and receiving them with humility, so that we can return to ourselves, to one another, and to the world we are trying to build.

Join us for the High Holidays 5787 season as we seek to be remembered for life—and as we help make our community a place where life, in all its complexity and possibility, can flourish.

“While Jewish tradition has much to say about so many aspects of this annual seven week season, no rabbi nor Jewish community has ever before lived through these particular seven weeks this particular year until us, together, right now.

Today is the precipice of the end of these seven weeks of struggle, of work, of emotion, of thinking. Of list making and community gathering. Of planning and preparing. Of transition and transformation. Of realization and confronting. Of wrestling and doing. Of conflict and repair. Of life and of loss.

I hope you have been able to share in the journey Kadima has laid out over these last seven weeks.

All leading to now. To this evening – later today on the Gregorian calendar, and fully tomorrow on the Jewish calendar. To sundown. To a new beginning. To 5787 and all it will bring, all it can bring, all we will cause it to bring.

Shabbat Rosh HaShanah Shalom, l’Shanah Tovah u'Metukah and Anyada Beuna, Dulse i Alegre."
