Our mom, Frances Kadinoff, died on July 31st. She was born in October 1934 in Central Falls, RI and grew up in a French Canadian household. After attending nursing school at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA, she became a registered nurse. Her decision to go into nursing was practical; her mother couldn’t afford to pay for her to go to college. But Frances had other ideas. Her dream was to become a singer. She saved all of her nursing checks and used them to pay for singing lessons at the New England Conservatory where she later earned a Bachelors Degree in Music.
It was at a choral rehearsal for a recording of the Berlioz Requiem with the Boston Symphony that she met her future husband, violist Bernard Kadinoff. They were married in July 1960, and nine months later their first child, Danielle was born. She leaves behind so much love: kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and a whole lot of friends and former voice students whose lives she touched. 💛

This is a clay sculpture that I’m currently working on. Artist and explorer of decoration, @anthonysonnenberg has been posting reels, digging deeply into the subject of decoration in art. He has really inspired me to think more about decoration and what it can mean in my work. As I progress through the process of creating this ceramic sculpture, I’m leaning into what decoration is and how it fits into my artistic practice. by @kadinoff
