Alden’s Sports Day OCT2026. Very cute. The kids and senseis worked so hard to make this a success. This year there were like 34 consecutive days of rain bc of multiple typhoons, so they didn’t have much outside time preparing. Alden ran so fast in his individual race this year! I’ll have to find the video. Codie did a sibling tug-of-war and I ran in the parents relay! This time Codie and I were ready with snacks and chairs for the long morning of mostly spectating. (Last year we got very hangry.)

Unfortunately, Andrew missed this year as well, but he’s out in the ocean getting his ship ready for another deployment, which is important. We’ve been telling the kids that the ship can’t stay on the pier all the time; it’s made for the sea!

Instead of ‘Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy,’ we have our very own ‘Mornings with Alden Diggs.’ Filmed on July 3rd, 2026, I want to remember this sweet voice and sideways mouth. Uniform, origami, talking about Sensei; I want to encapsulate this special time in Japan. Hope the kids remember too. by @kadler54

Our last stop in the US was on Long Island to see family and to celebrate the Christening of my newest niece, Amelia Margaret! I am honored to be her Godmother! Stayed at my dad’s apt and it was a hoot, just like last time. We went into his complex’s pool, found a nice park with some walking trails, and went to the children’s museum (at Codie’s request). Had a great time seeing Jared and Liz and watching them thrive as parents of two babies! Got to see my cousins, hang for a bit and catch up. My oldest cousin’s son is a graduate of high school now! Where has the time gone? Saw two growing-up friends too, so it was a a full circle trip. Wish we had a few more days. Wait, we did get one more bc I missed our flight back. After Rob and Libby’s weeding, Andrew went home to Japan for work, but we stayed in the US for a while. Our first stop was Tampa, FL to see Cici, Grandy and Pop! We were their first visitors in their new house and it was really fun. The kids biked and scootered all over, and made friends with neighbor kids! We went to a local splash pad a few times, the pool, playgrounds, the zoo, and the children’s museum! It was a full week! I’m a poor planner, so next time we’ll drive over to the east coast side to see Aunt Donna and Aunt Judy. So lucky to have the best in-laws!! by @kadler54

Rob and Libby’s wedding weekend in Greenville, SC during Memorial Day weekend, 2026 was so beautiful. We got to be present and celebrate their marriage with so many great friends and family! My cousin, Emma came to visit last weekend! She had a work trip in Tokyo and then made time for us on the backside. We ate dinner at an izakaya, checked out Enoshima island (and went up inside the “sea candle” lighthouse!), went to Yokohama on the train with just us to meet up with some of my girlfriends, and had a “relaxing” morning on Sunday, then saw Andrew’s ship before she headed back home. We had some Mt. Fuji sightings as well. What a weekend to remember! @emlmcmillen 🇯🇵🍱🎏 by @kadler54

Spring break 2026. Kauai was amazing! Clifford stayed back for work, and we met our San Diego friends. Codie and Alden were back with their daredevil buddy, Eleanor! It was great to see her so fearless and to push Codie and Alden out of their comfort zones. Codie surfed with Nick (and me a little bit), jumped off the Hanalei pier, slid down a slide on a large sailboat off Napali coast, and much more! Alden jumped right to me with his mask/snorkel and fins on, and that is a memory I will never forget. We had shave ice, great food, lots of physical activity, and tons of fun with our dear friends who are like family. It was cool to be able to meet halfway. by @kadler54

Had a great time in Hawaii celebrating the marriage of Andrew’s cousin Aly and her groom, Pat! Despite the crazy rain, wind, flooding, and power outages, we still had a blast. So much love too.
