FIRST DRAFT- this is by no means a finished work. I was recently struck with the vision of this painting, and with it, the epiphany that my expression and my processing of events does not need to be contained to within a therapeutic, easily understandable framework-like a journal entry. That my creative genius is inherently mixed media, and multidimensional, and that I have the unique gift to express through many different mediums. That I am limiting myself by attempting to follow the “rules” of processing and expression, and the more I let it go, the more inspiration and flow I’ll have. That I don’t need to intellectualize what is being expressed before I can express it. I don’t need to understand the symbolism in order to channel the imagery. I don’t need to attach a narrative to the emotion in order to express it. This is a process of trust. Trust my intuition. Trust my creative spark that I have neglected and abandoned for so long. Trust that the meanings will fall into place and that healing comes with ease and surrender, not perfectionism.
How does collectively understood rhetoric around trauma, and the quid pro quo around healing, stop you from moving energy? How can you challenge that?

First time painting from a place of centered flow instead of performative desperation to cling onto my gifts in a LONGGGG time. Currently in the practice of relearning how my creative energy manifests when it’s turned back inwards on me. Before I painted this I dreamed about a collision of Fire and Water, and the tattoo on my back says “she walks between the fire of her passions and the oceans of her tears.” I am an Aires Moon and Pisces Sun. While learning to temper my fire/water, masculine and feminine, softness and discipline, this character has made an appearance and I think what she represents is here to stay. by @kae_cielo
