I simply cannot articulate with enough gratitude how happy I am to be seen on a billboard in Sawtelle / Santa Monica'ish Los Angeles, CA, thanks to @kylehamiltonfineart and @bestkeptstorage - Following my recent exhibition with them at the newly opened Sawtelle Gallery.

It's also almost surreal being a contemporary fine artist with my name displayed above a street sharing a little slice of real estate just with another iconic artist, @yokoono who has an incredible show at @thebroadmuseum

This photo of me was taken during installation of my paintings, many were already sold so thank you to my collectors, especially to @fantasticplanet who collected this one, "A Verdant Mosaic".

And a last special thank you to Nesina @simwrk who took a few amazing photos for me to share with all of you today, since I am down here in San Diego. You are the bessst, I soo appreciate you! ❤️

Look, I am still just a small emerging artist in socal, lucky to have 17 exhibitions since 2023 which is crazy, but the reality is that shows are usually at my own expense and I am pretty broke as a joke most of the time, so little wins like this, as an artist, just feel so so special.

I have usually avoided being on camera but i recently had a change of heart about it, so don’t expect any fancy camera work or editing just yet. Just a girl with her art and today I’m packing it up after a show.

Thanks so much to @kylehamiltonfineart for inviting me and my work to participate, and @bestkeptstorage for hosting me and @laureybennettlevy art in your exhibit. I so appreciate everyone who came out to the show, can’t wait to see you at the next one!

One of the things to know about me, is that I have been told I write too much. So, I finally decided to do something about that, logically, I created a new @substack - Sole Demesne.

If you have ever stood in the middle of a life that looks fine on paper and felt, quietly, like you’re a guest in someone else’s house. Like you have been paying for years and somehow never came to own one thing that was supposed to be yours. Then you already live here with me. Come in. Take your coat off. Rest.

People have looked at the shape of my life from the outside. New York in my twenties. Modeling. The travel. Paintings of mine hanging in cities I have never once set foot in. Southern California now. And they almost always reach for the same word. Lucky. You have been so lucky.

I understand why it looks that way. But I was there for every single day of it, and not one of them ever felt like luck. Let me tell you what it really was, because the real thing is far more useful to you than what you see on the postcard........... cont.

In life, many people hit an obstacle and go another way instead of pushing through. Most, never see the other side of hard times. Success only seems unreachable to those who lack the vision to see a path through their obstructions.

When I created "Moving Mountains", an art print pair pictured here, it was the feeling of pushing through seemingly impossible obstacles, in combination with the common phrase "between a rock and a hard place" which usually is the emotion tied to feeling overwhelmed or stuck.

I made this work intentionally as a printed pair because I wanted the space between the two mountains to be part of what the art conveys.

There IS always a way to navigate between obstacles. Hence the name, moving mountains, because you can.

A glimpse behind the scenes of my art installation prep for The Sawtelle Gallery's opening art show, and sharing a few insights (which are also great suggestions for artists new to exhibiting), and a few (out of 8 total) artworks exhibiting.

One thing you can count on before a show, I take so much great care when transporting, installing, my work, and prep for a show.

If I have to skip sleep the night before to make sure everything gets done on schedule, I will. Every single piece is individually taped and padded for transport and handling.

If I'm installing on show day, I bring an oversized tshirt during install prep for all the eating breakfast, chugging coffee, drilling backs, and any other potentially messy work.

Makeup, Hair? I do that after install, messy work is sweaty work, gallery bathrooms are perfectly fine for switching to your show-ready look afterwards.

It helps to also have amazing friends who are down for helping with the drive, carrying work, install, taking photos and video while you're focused on working, and bringing you breakfast and drinks, and letting you pass totally out in the car on your way home because you definitely didn't sleep the night before. ALWAYS appreciate your besties who make time and effort for you. Friends like this deserve a gold star, and a medal, and a trophy, and some ice cream. I'm Hi5'ing all you awesome besties out there who do this for your friends too!!

Appreciate every moment of the whole process and event that you can. laugh at every hiccup or delay, because anything that can go wrong usually will, it happens. Be kind and thoughtful and helpful. Try to always be the reason everyone had a good time no matter what the situation.

Other artists in the show? take the time to appreciate their work too, because like you, they might also be stressed, tired, rushed, busy, distracted, hangry, thirsty, etc and giving them praise and appreciation helps boost morale so so much.

So I hope you enjoyed a peek at what the not-cute work looks like during a show install and some of my work on display! ❤️

Just finished this new work! I love quiet moments and light and sweet little bathroom shelves in the light are among my favorite #interiordecor in a home, filled with treasures and potions while you bathe yourself in healing and beauty rituals while pondering the world outside.

Just in time for the show tomorrow 12-4pm in Santa Monica at @bestkeptstorage The Sawtelle Gallery! LA friends, excited to see you there!
