The foyer is the first thing your home says out loud. Most entryways whisper in beige and brown, but you're not someone who shrinks into a crowd when you walk in, and neither should your entry. "Lazy Seasons" turns a tall, neutral wall into the moment guests remember before they've even taken off their coats: 36×48" of botanical color, segmented light, and that slow, lush, take-your-time feeling I paint into every piece. So I styled my own work, head to toe. The frame came first — a heavy verre églomisé ebony-and-brass by @voila.framing, whose artisan craftsmanship is unmatched; for a grand entry it adds scale, weight, and real presence. Then the light: the Dessau 24 in Nightshade Black by @_seanlavin_ for @visualcomfort — a fine painting deserves its own. The foundation: the Marilla console in ebony rustic wormwood oak, @mcgeeandco. Oak takes entry wear beautifully, and its geometry and weight echo the work and the frame. A rug moment: the Vermont hand-tufted in rust, @safavieh — pulled straight from the falling leaves in the painting's autumn segment. And a seat to slip off your shoes: the Maxine tufted ottoman in cream velvet and gold, @safavieh — its brass base carries the metal down to the floor, and the soft tufting nods to the painted sofa. Styled with a faux Bird of Paradise, and and decorative vases by @anthropologie , a vintage French Brass magazine rack @loveantiques_com, and a brass and black knob set of catch-all bowls by @jossandmain An entryway is the preview of the whole home, the home being an extension of you, so give it beautiful personality. Lets talk art in room settings. When accenting a painting like 'Lazy Seasons' which is a very large 36x48"- 91.44cm x 121.92cm - statement piece, consider the room it will live in. For visual balance, I recommend hanging it on a large wall, which draws the eye to the work as a focal point without overpowering the room. In this view, you will notice the furnishing tones share some color and texture with the art, so they compliment the work, and the hammered brass lighting fixture with dark wood end caps above the artwork adds a classy modern touch that pulls from the furnishing texture and tones on the ground for visual balance (and proper lighting) to the statement piece. A glimpse behind the scenes of my art installation prep for The Sawtelle Gallery's opening art show, and sharing a few insights (which are also great suggestions for artists new to exhibiting), and a few (out of 8 total) artworks exhibiting. One thing you can count on before a show, I take so much great care when transporting, installing, my work, and prep for a show. If I have to skip sleep the night before to make sure everything gets done on schedule, I will. Every single piece is individually taped and padded for transport and handling. If I'm installing on show day, I bring an oversized tshirt during install prep for all the eating breakfast, chugging coffee, drilling backs, and any other potentially messy work. Makeup, Hair? I do that after install, messy work is sweaty work, gallery bathrooms are perfectly fine for switching to your show-ready look afterwards. It helps to also have amazing friends who are down for helping with the drive, carrying work, install, taking photos and video while you're focused on working, and bringing you breakfast and drinks, and letting you pass totally out in the car on your way home because you definitely didn't sleep the night before. ALWAYS appreciate your besties who make time and effort for you. Friends like this deserve a gold star, and a medal, and a trophy, and some ice cream. I'm Hi5'ing all you awesome besties out there who do this for your friends too!! Appreciate every moment of the whole process and event that you can. laugh at every hiccup or delay, because anything that can go wrong usually will, it happens. Be kind and thoughtful and helpful. Try to always be the reason everyone had a good time no matter what the situation. Other artists in the show? take the time to appreciate their work too, because like you, they might also be stressed, tired, rushed, busy, distracted, hangry, thirsty, etc and giving them praise and appreciation helps boost morale so so much. So I hope you enjoyed a peek at what the not-cute work looks like during a show install and some of my work on display! ❤️ And special thanks to @kylehamiltonfineart @bestkeptstorage for the show, and @laureybennettlevy also exhibiting!

So, it’s official… The company @randizuckerberg and I cofounded 3 years ago, @thehugxyz, has been acquired by @artdomains! 🎉 Every new chapter, no matter how exciting, is always bittersweet… especially as I look back to how HUG all began. Who would have thought that a throwaway message on Discord would eventually lead to a beautiful global community of tens of thousands of artists, friendships that will last a lifetime, and countless moments small or large that will most likely go on to have a long lasting impact of their own… the butterfly effect as they call it 🦋💫 Way too many people to tag and things to be grateful for in a single Instagram post, but I’ll do my best. Let’s start swiping! 👉 🔸 Being granted the opportunity to speak on the future of creativity onchain on stages both big and small 🔸 Bringing our beautiful community together IRL in cities all around the world 🔸 Attending in person just a fraction of the hundreds of art exhibits we helped curate 🔸 Supporting the careers of so many artists (now friends!) by buying their art, attending their shows, putting them on billboards (like Shibuya Crossing!), and getting them hired by big brands 🔸 Conceiving and bringing to life our first ever HUGFest that brought people from all walks of life to show them how joyful and fun art could be 🔸 Embracing evolution and a rebrand (though I will still not have regretted getting our old mascot Hugo tattooed on me) 🔸 Working alongside badass women every day who have taught me so much about leadership and business 🔸 Leading the most amazing team and even getting to celebrate their personal milestones 💍 …. and just all around having fun, hugs, and being here for the art 💖 No idea what’s next, but thank you for being a part of my and @thehugxyz’s journey so far!
