Oh hey!!!! I can reveal the cover to my debut graphic novel for adult readers!

I HATED YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL is a queer twist on an enemies to lovers romance. It's all about being in your 20s, wondering what you're doing with your life, and trying to heal from past mistakes.

Out April 15 2025 from Andrews McMeel! Pre-order wherever you buy books! by @kagcomix

Here's a fun little art piece I made recently. Did you know you can stretch quilt samples on canvas stretchers like you would a painting? Background is made up of sample blocks for a quilt I'm designing. Appliqué is a vintage horse I found in a thrift store years ago. by @kagcomix

Did you know that if you have spent your whole life loving clinch covers & wishing you could paint like that..... you can just like.... Decide to take a painting class and learn the techniques you need to make your own queer versions?

It was really really fun & challenging to try and approach this historic illustration genre through my own lens.

Thank you to @impractical_stitchcraft for being a perfect model for this painting series. All done in acrylic. Text was thrown in digitally.

Thank you so much to @powellriverlibrary for bringing me out to run comic camp this year! I had an absolute blast drawing with the kids & they made some really incredible zines and mini comics.

It was my first time in Powell River & I loved it! It's so beautiful & the food is delicious. Flying out felt like August 2001 because I got to go on a tiny plane where the cockpit was open the whole time.

I'm feeling very lucky that I get to work with such lovely & welcoming people, and that I get to visit so many different communities in my province.

I stayed in an inn with lots of character. Scroll to see the haunted piano that launched into 1 minute concerts every hour from 11am-7pm, leading to some very comical interjections into my nightly phone call home.

Love to travel. Glad to be home.

What a wonderful week! I'm headed back to Vancouver after spending 5 days with high school students on the Sunshine Coast making zines and comics. I'm blown away by the creativity of the Chatelech and Elphinstone students.

A million thank yous to @scwrittenarts for bringing me out here as writer in residence for the week. It's been an absolute blast. 11/10 experience for sure. by @kagcomix

An old project came in the mail today!

A few years ago I participated in an academic conference at UBC pairing cartoonists with researchers working in the field of migration. By the end of the conference we had created a comic together.

Thank you to the organizers and our collaborators for making this such a unique experience.

Cover by J Dalton
Researchers I collaborated with: Erin Goheen Glanville, Biz Nijdam, Sofiya Saleh. by @kagcomix

GUESS WHAT. It's Pride in Vancouver (YES it's in August, so basically June->August is pride season here. Did you know that my debut graphic novel for adults (I HATED YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL) is the perfect pride read???? It has been called "very good" by both my girlfriend and my mom.

Swipe to the end for a casual reader challenge. 😈😘

What are your plans for Pride this year? (My main plan is to stay hydrated and to avoid getting a sunburn) by @kagcomix

New business cards!!!

These were supposed to be for TCAF but UPS ate the package. The printer was kind enough to resend the order & I think they look great!

One of these days I'll dig out my box of past business cards (which date back to 2014 or 2015 I think). I love to hold onto one of every printing to kind of catalogue my self-perception as an artist over the years. by @kagcomix
