Matilda's sponsored read is going well! Another pile of books she's read and loved. I got this post ready a few days ago but Insta is not being my friend, so she's read more since these photos were taken! Will include them in the next post.

Thanks to these brilliant authors and illustrators for providing such fabulous entertainment! And thank you to everyone has so kindly sponsored Matilda.

Matilda is raising money for @childrenshospicesw and is aiming to read for 100 hours over the summer.

She's already well on her way to this having read around 43 hours since she set herself the challenge 21 days ago!

AND she's already raised more than double her initial goal of £200 thanks to all the super generous donations! If you fancy helping her reach the £500 mark, please do sponsor her. I'll share the link in my stories plus it's below:

Matilda has been reading some brilliant comic books recently. This is our latest library haul ready to be returned, plus a couple we own or were gifted*
She loved them all.

Thanks to @bristollibraries @sgloslibraries for their excellent reservation system which means we can borrow all these fab books without going bankrupt!

Top three from this stash (but she's keen to emphasize that they are all brilliant!):

⭐Alanna: Song of the Lioness (book 1)
✍️Vita Ayala @definitelyvita
🎨Sam Beck @sambeckdraws
📚@abramskids @piquebeyond
Adapted from novel by Tamora Pearce

⭐Legacy: The Shadow Rises (book 1)
✍️Tom and Will Fickling
🎨Zak Simmonds- Hurn @monstrouscomics

⭐Witches of Brooklyn: Curse & Reverse (book 5)
✍️🎨Sophie Escabasse @esofiii
📚@rhkidsgraphic

She is desperate for book 2 of Alanna and Legacy!

I found the Alanna graphic novel after @ashbwrites recommended the original novel Alanna on our podcast, and I also heard @acaseforbooks discussing it on her podcast with @kwebberwanders
I've got the novel to read too!

Have you or your kids read any of these? Which would you recommend? And what should she be trying next?

*Class Pets by Beach @be8ch was gifted, thank you @simonkidsuk

Here's a fun little art piece I made recently. Did you know you can stretch quilt samples on canvas stretchers like you would a painting? Background is made up of sample blocks for a quilt I'm designing. Appliqué is a vintage horse I found in a thrift store years ago.

April reads 📚

This month I read a graphic novel in a day, but also had one hardback on the go for four weeks as I couldn’t be bothered to lug it around 😂

I tried to head to my local library to shake things up, but given I read three Aussie romances I don’t know if I was successful! But they were all fantastic 👏🏻

Also went to the cinema four times, saw two plays, one TV show taping, and stated knitting a vest 🧶

What was your favourite read of the month? 📖

What we loved in March 🐣

We’ve both seen new movies, taken recommendations from each other, and read wonderful books as always. There’s a certain whimsey to a lot of our March picks, gravitating towards heartwarming and lighthearted entertainment I suppose 🥰
