I’m really bad at talking about how I feel, always have been. So this is me practicing what I preach. It’s okay to talk and it’s okay to be vulnerable. We’re all in this together. You’re not a burden and you can get through whatever it is you’re going through. If you don’t have anyone to talk to, make the most of the helplines, there are some incredible people on the other end of the phone, people that want to listen.

Help us make as much noise as possible for suicide prevention. There is a link in @kitbirks bio that will take you to the @wearegivestar page. The money goes directly to two incredible charities doing incredible work.

Being on this expedition is wild. I’ve watched from the sidelines like so many others since the beginning, but being here and living it is an incredible experience. I’d known since Norway that this was going to be an incredible journey, but it’s been far more than I ever expected.

It’s unbelievable how resilient someone can be when something so big is at the heart of their mission, and I’m so privileged to be able to capture that.

First half (in days) complete. Days 1-7 saw me cover nearly 200km on foot over 7 days from the Rhone Glacier to the shores of Lake Geneva. Day 8 saw my longest paddle to date but day 9 did not go to plan.

Next up on the bike for 4 days to cover over 400km as we start heading deep into southern France following the Rhone.

While me and the team rest up today here are some highlights from the first 9 days.

DAY 1
2 days and 100’s of KM’s travelled it was great to finally get going. The scenery and landscape in the Swiss Alps/Rhone Valley is just incredible.

DAY 2
This was one of the scariest descents of the hike. A near vertical switch back and forth with not a lot to hold on to, loose ground and only a road or train track to break my fall.

DAY 3
Today saw issues with the support van which if not sorted soon would have put it in limp mode and likely brought an end to the mission.

Thankfully @motoraldasse to the rescue to get the van sorted.

DAY 4
A pleasant, scenic flatter walk than the last few days. A good time to reflect on why I’m doing this and just enjoy my surroundings.

DAY 5
I started to develop pain and swelling on the back of my right foot. Gradually got worse as the day went until I met up with Kai and Ben at lunch and we took a proper look

Turns out it’s likely Achilles Tendinitis. Strapped up with a cold wrap and on with the mission we go!

DAY 6
I was in a lot of pain and dosed up on pills for the morning so Ben decided to cheer me up with a full box of @mcdonalds Chicken Nuggets. I might of been a bit keen

DAY 7
This day turned out a good laugh (and to take my one of my foot) as Kai joined me for the full day (to be fair he’s actually hiked just over half the distance I have!). Unfortunately most of this days route ran alongside a ma taken in Geneva, Switzerland by @kaipbowe
