Throw back Thursday going back to 2014 with this Super sprint track bike. It was the first frame I built using the Samson track ends and aero track fork crown with Kalavinka lugs and BB to round out the Japanese inspired build. Tubing was a mix of Reynolds 853 tapered 1”-11/8” top tube, True Temper OX platinum ST,DT,HT with Reynolds 753 Serotta bend CS @kaiseitubes seat stays and aero fork blades. Our contribution for @jpweigle’s virtual French Fender Day: When Peter Weigle joined the Hirose Owners’ Meeting in Japan. A meeting of giants… and great riding on great roads.

The craft of lugged frames has never been in better hands. And in @jpweigle’s case, we know the finished bike will ride as well as it looks.

Repost @scarabcycles: The tubes of our frames are made of high-strength steel alloys.

They are not regular tubing and cannot be found in a hardware store.

Our suppliers are Columbus from Italy 🇮🇹 and Kaisei from Japan🇯🇵.

We choose every single tube carefully and the selection depends
on the type of bike, the riders and the rider style.

Builders like @mariposabicycles appreciate the consistent high quality and carefully calibrated heat treatment of Kaisei tubing. This showstopper at the Enve Builders Roundup is a wonderful modern interpretation of a performance steel bike.

650b Light Tour/Randonneur. Tubing blend spec’d for careful off-road use in addition to pavemebt and gravel. Little more clean up/finish work to do on this but I needed to see the complete picture. by @kaiseitubes
