Very late post, but I’m feeling called to finally celebrate my wins, especially the big expensive ones. Graduating from college was strange for me. I received my bachelors degree in the midst of COVID May 2020, wasn’t able to walk the stage, and life was shutting down all around me. I planned to move down south with family to figure out what my next move was. I quickly decided to continue my education and get my masters degree in counseling, as I had no clue what else to do and couldn’t do the big things I wanted to without it. Within 3 years, I was a masters counselor. But through my internships and licensure process, I realized I wasn’t happy. I struggled with the paradoxes of life and what professionalism meant for me. Business attire. Constricting therapeutic techniques. Working in a counseling office. Filing paperwork all day. I knew it wasn’t entirely me. I took my final test for licensure, the NCE, to get my LPC-A. I studied and wasn’t worried. I had a job lined up at a private counseling firm in Austin Texas and a supervisor ready to guide me toward becoming a fully licensed LPC. Then I got my results. I failed by 1 point. I got a 90, I needed a 91. To me the message was clear- you are completely capable, you know it. But this isn’t the path for you. My entire college career, I had an interest in QHHT Past Life Regression. I had always promised myself that after graduating I’d become certified. So I did the scariest thing in the world and told my mom I was going to take a break and follow my dreams, the crazier ones. Because of this, I felt like I didn’t deserve to celebrate my graduation. My 7 years of schooling. But now I am a professional hypnotist, confident in the beautiful unfolding of my journey, and ready to fully celebrate my wins. Master of Science graduate in Counseling, with minors in Addiction, Mental Health, Sociology, and Criminal Justice, as of May 2023. Thank you to everyone who helped me pursue my dreams and believed in me, even when I felt like I was abandoning them. I do it for us. But most importantly, I do it for me. Proud of myself and my accomplishments. by @kaitlynndenn
