Celebrating 100 years of Black history must include the 10 years of work Tricia Hersey @thenapministry has aided in discovering questions, reflections, and mediations about the liberating power of rest.

🛌 I use the Rest Deck for myself and with my clients as a way to unlearn grind culture and the impacts of white supremacy & capitalism. This deck introduces many ways of what resistance and healing can look like.

🛌 When I’m not using this deck for myself, clients have asked to use this deck before vacations, when holidays are coming up, when there is a transitional break between individual therapy sessions, and whenever they need a prompt or reminder to continue to create a new relationship to rest.

🛌Thank you, Tricia for your work of @thenapministry due to the impact your deck, books, and events for community continues to have in the mental health field for Black people.

Different city, new home, and new opportunities! s/o to the new chapter of life that’s unfolding because I love where I’m at and I love where I’m going! Grounding, recalibrating, and preparing as the year of the 🐍 closes and the year of the 🐎 will begin soon. I also feel lighter and freer to be myself as my Saturn return ends today✨My Saturn return was the deepest purification for a more authentic and aligned life. Abundance continues to arrive in my life so I want to cherish how grateful I feel in this moment. Deep gratitude for June being full of reunions, Juneteenth, pride month, celebrations, and adventures. These past few weeks in GA have been incredible. Relocating here has had a profound effect on my mood and perspective being reconnected and surrounded by loved ones. I’ve fallen deeply in love with this city all over again. There are so many people doing so many quiet and loud and small and wide things to make this world more beautiful, more bearable, more humane, more kind, more free. I’m so grateful for those people. I graduated with a Masters in Psychotherapy in August so I want to share what’s been on my heart and mind these past few years. Spirit, Earth, ancestors, family, friends, community, mentors, and guides continue to pour into me as i make it through this life journey of learning and not solely academically. I don’t believe that getting a degree is the most important thing I’ve done or will ever do. This academic institution was just a temporary container for my process. I simply made a choice and saw the process through the end.

So now, I am open to receiving what this next transformation in my life brings. Heavy on what the hoodie says but also it is important to speak on the difference of deserving therapy versus accessibility, affordability, and representation in the mental health field specifically for Queer Black people. I am and hope to continue to be surrounded by folks who are dedicating their time and lives to using the wisdom of ancient indigenous and ancestral knowledge alongside tools of Western ideas of healing (for example, therapy) in order to meet various peoples needs for their mental and emotional well being. Overall, this moment is a testament that im surrounded by visible and invisible forces that want the best for me. To all the ancestors who suffered and survived and whose blood, sweat, and tears made this possible! I honor you with every word I write.
