KAL-RAAH and @huqthat met by chance at a Palestine fundraiser during London Fashion Week. Between conversations about our work, we found a shared appreciation for traditional craft and the things we make by hand.

Both henna and embroidery are rooted in handwork. There’s so much history in these practices, in the patience they require and the skills passed down through generations. That conversation eventually led to the shoot.

We wanted to explore how those patterns could move between cloth and skin, bringing our two practices together in a way that felt natural to both of us.

Months of work, trial and error, and countless samples later, it’s finally here!

Somewhere along the way, I realised KAL-RAAH is really about slowing down and looking within. This collection made me see everyday things differently, and appreciate the beauty in the daily.

Handwoven cotton, naturally dyed using traditional Bandhani technique with pomegranate and iron to create its olive tone.

Hand tied floral motifs are scattered across the garment, finished with days of sun fading and hand-distressing.

The Henna shirt takes inspiration from traditional henna and mehndi patterns, translated through hand embroidery across the sleeves.

“KAL-RAAH” hidden within the embroidery, a reference to the tradition of writing names into henna. by @kal.raah

The campaign was shot in spaces that echoed the design language of II RAAH.

The first leg took us inside a 17th century military outpost, where the architecture’s history felt naturally connected to the vintage handmade textiles used throughout the collection. by @kal.raah
