exhibition Bonington Building The Atrium Nottingham Trent University 02-19th September 2025

The exhibition and FACE foregrounded a commitment to equity, inclusion, and decolonising the curriculum. As Black and Brown educators, our lived experiences shape our pedagogy, challenging Eurocentric narratives and embedding intersectional perspectives within Art and Design education. By centring lived experiences, as discussed at FACE X RCA summit presented in Nov 2024 and promoting mutual respect, academia can cultivate a sense of belonging and ensure that representation is both meaningful and transformative. The FACE X Hair exhibition builds upon previous chapters of this pedagogical journey, situating personal hair stories within broader contemporary artistic practices and the evolving sociopolitical landscape of Britain. In doing so, it reclaims space for cultural expression and resistance, while contributing to an ongoing dialogue about identity, representation, and systemic change in art and design education. Sculptural Healing ਸ਼ਿਲਪਕਾਰੀ ਇਲਾਜ
The sculptural series draws inspiration from Baoding balls—meditative spheres originating from the Ming dynasty that serve as objects for contemplation and tactile engagement. This collaborative work with my wife, jewellery designer Sara Preisler, emerged as an introspective exploration of mental health, particularly focusing on the theme of well-being and the complexities of managing depression through medication.
Crafted from silver folio and repurposed medicine packaging accumulated over fifteen years, the spheres are intentionally textured and distorted. These materials signify the central role of medication in maintaining my physical and mental well-being. In integrating clay and fragmented tablets, the sculptures become tangible extensions of the body—evoking both its vulnerabilities and resilience. @ntuphotography @nottinghamtrentuni @_weareface @sedf_official @jrajcova by @kandhola_max
