Why Élan?

Choosing the name for this next chapter of my practice was deeply intentional.

I wanted a name that reflected how I approach my work: with energy, confidence, purpose, and a commitment to doing things well. But I also wanted the name to mean something beyond the practice itself.

Élan carries my children with me.

EL for Elliot. AN for Kyrie Evan.

As a mother and a first-generation lawyer, legacy has become increasingly important to me. I think often about what I am building, what I am teaching through the way I build it, and what will remain long after me.

That same perspective shapes the way I serve my clients. Whether we are protecting a business, planning for a family, preserving property, or navigating a difficult legal matter, there is always something bigger behind the paperwork.

Élan represents people, purpose, and possibilities.

It is more than a new name. It is a reflection of what matters to me and the kind of practice I intend to continue building.

So many people have cheered me on throughout this journey, and I don’t take any of it for granted.

Meet the woman behind Élan.

I’m Kandice, founder and managing attorney of Élan Law.

My path to private practice did not begin with a grand business plan. During the pandemic, I started hosting Facebook Lives to provide free legal information to people in my community who were starting businesses and needed a little guidance.

Those conversations became clients. Those clients became relationships. And those relationships eventually became a law practice.

Today, that practice has evolved into Élan Law.

Élan represents how I believe law should be practiced: with intention, clarity, excellence, and an understanding that what we help our clients build and protect often extends far beyond a single legal matter.

This is the next chapter, and I’m excited to share more of the story behind it. by @kandiceguice
