A little different of a post to usual but of course it's a positive one :)

Earlier in the year, Kapow @ Thorntons was named one of the Top UK Coffee shops via @thebestcoffeeshops.uk

We we're absolutely over the moon with this decision and quite frankly we still are.

However, as of yesterday, Kapow @ Thorntons been awarded and named one of the Top 100 Coffee Shops in the whole of the EU.

It's a little odd as sometimes it's hard to feel like we deserve it as we just do what we do? But being stood next to shops and people we always look up to for inspiration and drive will always be a weird feeling.

We all genuinely cannot thank you all enough for the sheer amount of support you give us. Times are hard yes, but you still choose us. We try our best every day and every day we strive for improvement. I think that's what keeps us going. Not constantly chasing the NEW thing or constantly looking on how we min max profits just to play the game. We're not in it for that and it doesn't fit with what we love. The shop was built on passion and it will always be put first.

Coffee is built on relationships and having such a dedicated customer base from all over the world and have people from all coffee nerd-ery come to us for a brew is something we look forward to every day. Having such an eclectic range of customers brings something amazing every day. Thank you all <3

In the grand scheme of things, this doesn't mean much, it won't change anything but it's just nice to be recognised.

Thank you to everyone in the industry that's constantly supported us, roasters we've worked with, importers we've bought from, independent + global event folk. Thank you.

All the staff at Thorntons constantly put their all into everything they do, we're actually so lucky to have such a dedicated team that pours everything (ha lol get it) into what they love.
Genuinely thank you all for being part of the team. It wouldn't be Kapow without you.

🎂💥IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY 💥🎂

WELL NOT EXACTLY TODAY BUT LET'S JUST SAY MARCH.

IT'S BEEN ANOTHER BRILLIANT YEAR AND WE'RE GENUINELY SO HYPED THAT WE CAN SHARE EVERYDAY WITH YOU ALL.

WE'VE GOT 2 MEGA BIRTHDAY COFFEES BUT YOU LOT HAVE ALREADY SUPPED THE FIRST ONE, IT GOES ON THE WEBSITE TONIGHT BUT THERE AINT MUCH LEFT!

A genuine thank you, to every person who has ever walked through the door. We literally can't do this without you.

Another huge thank you to the team, again, we can't do this without you.

And ANOTHER huge thank you to all the amazing roasters, importers & industry folk for providing us coffee that we serve, roast & taste 💥

One of our current special guests is an absolutely banging coffees from our good friends @still_cafebar

We've not got much for spro so get on it quick. (It is rather spenny though lol)

An SL34 grown in Panama, it has a suuuuuuper complex acidity and a really round sweetness with milk and black.

The process is an interesting one, A Darkroom Co2 Flush.
The coffee is fermented inside of sealed tanks which are flushed with Co2 to remove any oxygen , resulting in a carbonic maceration phase.

It is then moved to a Darkroom to dry.

By drying the coffee inside of a Darkroom, UV light degradation is prevented which is said to allow incredibly uniform drying which in turn results in some lovely Aromatics.

📣 Tickets for the Leeds Textile Craft Social in October are live

🗓 Tuesday 6th October

📍Kapow Coffee, Thornton's Arcade, Leeds

🕚 6pm to 8pm

New to our socials? Each month we bring along our craft projects from embroidery to crochet and so much more. You'll meet fellow makers who love textiles and enjoy amazing coffee and bakes.

If you're a newbie to textile craft we've got you covered. Hayley and Rowan are textile artists who specialise in embroidery. We have beginner kits to get you started on your embroidery journey. Just don't ask us to crochet, we have regulars who can help with that!

Got a project that you're stuck on? Bring it along and get some tips on how to take it from a work in progress to a fabulous finished piece.

Tickets are available on our Eventbrite, link in highlights. We ask people who can to buy a ticket but FREE tickets are always available. We have a booking system so that we don't run out of chairs or cakes.
