Matcha Tonic, £5.40 from Kapow

Need something refreshing? KAPOW! Matcha tonic! Delightful. Nice and bubbly. The perfect middle ground between latte and usucha. I'll be having this again.

Unless they've changed supplier, Kapow use Mokuren matcha from Cha-ology. £58 for 100g. Mokuren is a blend of cultivars from Yame, Fukuoka, Japan. It is a first harvest, stone ground, high-grade culinary matcha. Cha-ology describes it as a Goldilocks matcha that is just right in any format, be it latte, usucha or baked goods. It certainly works as a tonic (in both senses).

Local coffee drinkers (and pigeons) have long been aware of Kapow's game. A status recently confirmed by their ranking as a top 10 coffee shop in the UK. 89th in Europe! However, I'm not sure the matcha addicts are in on this not so secret secret. Well, now you are. Go grab a tonic.

COFFEE CUPPING @kapowcoffee !!

kapow coffee are the local legends of coffee, roasting in house and stocking some of the best roasters from around the world; they’ve kindly offered to run a cupping event for CoffeeSoc 🙏😆

it will be a great opportunity for those new to specialty coffee to be able to try a broad range of (really.. really…) good coffee. it will be a super casual environment and a great way to learn more about what’s in the cup!☕️

and the best part… its free! tickets are releasing at 5pm on Thursday, available only to members. there’s only 20 spaces so be ready!!

a massive thanks to kapow for offering us their space, time and coffee - we can’t wait😇

Snazzy coffee and even snazzier book launches and just one more postcard for the collection and incredibly relatable coasters and baby pigeons in surprisingly good nests and proud dog owners and even more bonding with the neighbour’s cat and finally my hair’s grown out a bit (after a slightly too short cut that made me completely spiral) and every coffee shop should have a cat of the week and gifted vintage t shirts and sticker book trails.

Aaaaand Christopher Eccleston. Really cool about that. Was so chill. “Don’t meet your heroes” my arse.

I made it through the wilderness 🥴

I’m SO glad to be home from hospital and settling into life as a three. Baby Feaster has already explored some of the best spots in town and there’s plenty more to come.
