Leoni Marais de Cöning made sure that we cycle through Leipzig and visit the Lutheran Church, St Thomas kirche. Martin Luther preached in this church in 1539 and the composer Johann Sebastian Bach worked as kantor from 1723 until his death in 1750.

JS Bach is my favourite composer of all times and it was my bucket list experience visiting the grave inside the church where Bach was buried.

We also visited the Thomaner Choir School site briefly where this world famous choir is based since 1212. taken in Leipzig, Germany by @kapptein

Munich, you beauty!

Long walks through the neighboods in search of sheep and natural beauty, which are plenty and then a visit to Marienplatz where the majestic buildings of the Old Town still tell a beautiful story from the past.

I could do with a green smoothie, though, after all the food crime that I have been committing.

Today I ventured a little to the outskirts of Amsterdam to a place called Zaanse Schans with its beautiful windmolens (windmills) on the advice of my friend, Reon. It is such a quaint little village and really worth the visit.

I was fascinated by the authenticity of the village and how people take pride in their surroundings, and they are really friendly despite our camera lenses doing a lot of talking.

They are probably going to be relieved that I left, because I was photographing all the beautiful flowers and buildings. By the way, photo 13 is of a little place that is for sale if anyone feels the need to sponsor me.

And then I saw a tompouce in a bakerij!! A tompouce is a Dutch custard slice, and I must confess that it is not as sweet as the South African version. The sales lady warned me that it is messy to eat, which it totally was.

The picture of Jan Kat Plein was taken just for fun, because Jan is one of the popular family names in the Kapp family.

Well, anyway, my Amsterdam visit has come to an end, and it is off to Munich tomorrow.

I am totally chuffed that I made the effort to go to the Rijksmuseum to see some of the works of the old masters and learn a little bit of where we come from.

An art guide told us that Rembrandt's Nachtwacht painting [pic 4] has been under restoration for the last 5 years and that it will take another 5 years to really make progress. Well, clearly the restoration team don't work on weekends and Mondays.

Anyway, on a lighter note, the 2 Vermeer paintings are also in a class of its own. What struck me here in Amsterdam is the number of groups of school children visiting and how the teachers are giving them so much information. Also, the questions that some of the children asked, were next level.

What gets me a little, is that we are trying to get Johannesburg's art museum rescued, which also contains some of the works of the masters, like a Rembrandt, and yet here in Amsterdam this place is a main and packed attraction. I guess attention goes where focus flows.

Anyway, just my 2 cents for today.

What a privilege to stand here at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam for a concert on this day, which would have been my mother's 83rd birthday!

I am speechless now before the concert, and I assume that I will have even fewer words after.
