Happy Mother’s Day to all. & that excludes no one. Birth mothers, non-birthing mothers. Mothers who have lost. We all deserve our flowers today. 🌹🌷💐 by @karasibirth

It’s Black Breastfeeding Week! Here’s a throwback to some of the first milk I was able to pump. I never thought I would make it this far. 8 months going strong! by @karasibirth

It’s World Breastfeeding Week. This year’s theme is “Closing The Gap”. Being able to feed your baby from your body is a privilege and everyone deserves the opportunity to do so if they are able.

Whether you nurse, use supplemental systems (SNS) or pump, for a day, a couple months or a year, your dedication to feeding your baby is something to celebrate. My own journey was not what I imagined but I’m so happy to be able to provide milk for my baby and watch him grow. I’m happy to have made it so far (7 months exclusively pumping so far) and I will keep pushing.

Let’s uplift and support each other and the many paths of breast and body feeding that exist. Let’s uplift the moms in Sudan, Congo, Gaza and all over the world. by @karasibirth

My favorite thing about birth photography is being able to capture those little details that may slip away from memory over time. 💜

As a doula & birth photographer I’ve supported many people on their journey to parenthood. This is my first time supporting myself (yes I have my own doula too lol). This journey has been tough. Not because of the pregnancy itself, but because of the ways I have had to stretch myself. and because of the ways I’ve already been born and reborn again. And I have to admit I have not enjoyed most of it. And I have felt much guilt about not enjoying it, which has made me not want to talk about it. Am I excited? Yes. But there’s also a side of me feeling emotions I cannot explain. Now that I am in my final weeks I can’t help but feel joy returning to me and I am thankful. I am also thankful for all the moms and dads who have allowed me to support them on their journeys because without you all I wouldn’t feel the peace that I do on this journey for myself. I was supporting and teaching you, but you were truly showing me what is possible. #30weeks by @karasibirth

As your doula, I’m not there to replace your partner. I’m there to help create peace, harmony and rhythm so that they can feel confident in supporting you. 💞 plus, I get to step back and get beautiful photos like this of you 🥰

Sidenote, I can’t believe I never shared any photos from my breastfeeding minis earlier this year until now! Still trying to find my style. Not quite where I want to be but hoping to photograph some of you in 2023 💕

Hey y’all, it’s been a minute! I’ve been getting a ton of inquiries and I’m so thankful!

I thought it was important to make a quick post about my availability. Currently I am booked for births for the remainder of the year.

However, If you are looking for maternity photos this year I still have limited availability 💕 by @karasibirth

Ya girl is now a certified #birthphotographer! Photography has always been a passion of mine and I truly cannot wait to capture one of life’s most precious moments. I’m still sorting out how this will fit in with my current work but feel free to reach out if you’re looking for someone to document your birth in New Jersey. 💕

It’s #blackmaternalhealthweek. Last week @serenawilliams shared her birth story in her own words. Hearing about her birth story a few years ago was ultimately what made me pursue birth work. If this was happening to THE SERENA WILLIAMS, imagine the experience of our siblings from around the way.

People always say “why are you making it about race? Anybody can die during childbirth” yes, anybody can! And why aren’t you more upset about it? Many of the maternal deaths in the US are preventable. Why aren’t you talking about it? The US has double the number of maternal deaths than any other wealthy nation. And within that, Black women are 3 times more likely to die in most places, in some states like my own, the rate is closer to 7 times.

This is why Black maternal health matters. This is why I will continue to talk about it and this why race matters.

I’m happy to be a doula, I’m happy to have exposed myself to this work even though I am not a parent myself. But I have a mom, I have friends who are moms and they all deserve better. 💕
