I love shells and have always loved sailor’s valentines. Last summer I started a collection of souvenir items from the turn of the century. A sailor’s valentine box was my holy grail. This summer I came across a contemporary one (2006) and treated myself, couldn’t be happier! Here it is back in CT with the rest of the collection. by @karensilverbloom

Enjoyed an exhibit and lecture yesterday about Nantucket Lightship Baskets at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit, MA. I own 2 basket purses, so nice to learn more. Don’t know why they’ve become a “thing” suddenly this summer, have been around since late 1800s! #nantucketlightshipbaskets #nantucketbaskets #cahoonmuseumofamericanart #basketweaving #nantucketpurses by @karensilverbloom

My new (old) silhouettes have already been hung. Oh no, a new collection! At least they don’t take up much room! #silhouettes #antiquesilhouettes #childsilhouettes #vintagesampler #collection by @karensilverbloom

The Sandwich Flea Market rarely disappoints! Today’s haul includes mounted steer horns with hook, vintage carved wood shelf with mirror and heart, antique silhouettes of children with toys, antique hooked floral square that will become a pillow, 2 framed and signed floral etchings, retired Vera Bradley chicken and egg print bag, of course a flow blue plate(can never have enough), sailing themed novel- love the cover, a tiny heart charm and vintage red Lea Stein owl pin, I have the same one in green! I’m happy, some to keep and some to sell! #steerhorns #hookedpillows #silhouettes #woodshelf #etchings by @karensilverbloom

Hurrah, I finished my 1,000 piece puzzle! Thank you to my son and daughter-in-law who gifted it to me for one of my birthdays. Tough one, love a good challenge. #puzzles #shells #johnderianpuzzle #ilovepuzzles #capefun by @karensilverbloom

So much fun with grandkids at the Cape this summer. Lots of 1rst for the twins- mini golf, bowling, and catching hermit crabs at the beach. Wonderful memories. #capecod #beachvacation #falmouthma #minigolf #bowling by @karensilverbloom

I promised myself, this collection was closed- but I just couldn’t resist this amazing birdcage! The Victorian trim, the feet, floral painting, interesting pierced roof, and both glass feeders, never say never!
Can check out some of the rest of my collection in my instagram. #victorianbirdcage #tinbirdcage #antiquebirdcage #birdcagecollection #collections by @karensilverbloom

A few sweet items from the Sandwich Flea Market this past Wednesday. A bit hard focusing while walking with my Labradoodle who was much more interested in socializing with other dogs, and 3 visiting grandchildren! Good to get them hunting while they are young! Vintage handcrafted wooden horse pull toy, couldn’t resist the glass eyes, antique German Casige toy sewing machine from the 40’s, Victorian cat book with charming pictures, and framed lithograph by Sandra Anderson 1994 of a German Shepherd puppy. Not bad considering all my distractions! #handcraftedwoodtoy #toysewingmachine #victoriancatbook #frameddogart #sandwichfleamarket by @karensilverbloom

A very eclectic haul from this week’s Sandwich Bazaar Flea Market! Arrived shortly after 7am and have never seen so many shoppers and dealers- words out! The amazing wood goose, monkey’s fist rope knot doorstop, green wicker shelf, tin toy phone(for my tin toy obsession) will all stay with me. Pink opal glass hand painted covered jar, scrimshaw duck box, sweet old framed daisy litho, Hadley whale mug and amazing rose embossed milk glass cake plate will end up at my Poshmark shop @karen984. Just couldn’t resist the antique religious shadow box. When we were in Amsterdam this spring I was dying for a tulipiere, a special tulip vase- presto! The amazing 7 piece handpainted angel band from Italy will hopefully appear in a special Christmas shadowbox in the future. #tintoys #religousart #coastaldecor #antiquecollector by @karensilverbloom

Just a part of my Sandwich, MA fleamarket purchases this past Sunday! I love plates, especially transferware, some are for me, and some are to sell. Other obsessions (out of so many), tin toys, painted wood animals, Cornishware (didn’t have a teapot) and flowblue dishes. Could not resist the tiny vintage child’s hat with flowers and ribbons, perhaps for a shadowbox. I plan on removing the workings of the old clock to use for a future box. Loved the Candlewick cake plate and wreath framed mirror. The mirror and trophy were purchased from a couple that scour the French flea markets and bring things here to sell to pay for their next trip back to France, I just love that 🇫🇷! Not shown are the dozen clothing items I purchased to sell including Diane Von Furstenberg, Frank & Eileen, Jam’s World, embroidered western shirt and amazing J. Crew silk maxi skirt. Too much fun! #transferware #vintageplates #fleamarkethaul #cornishware #maximalist by @karensilverbloom
